First Generation V70 (1997 - 2000)

In principle this car was a Volvo 850 (http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7920) with 1800 improvements and some new parts, including upgraded passive and active safety, better handling and new engines, but as a whole this was the same car.

Wasn't the Audi diesel engine in the first gen V70 a V6?

Oh and I hope that soon they'll realise their error and that they'll put the V8 under the V70's bonnet...

I can't say that I am impressed by the looks of this new V70, but I was expecting the V8 in this V70. Maybe they are preserving it for the R model. :)
i dont expect the R models to take on the V8 yet. i think theyre reserving those for the range topping S80 and XC90.

I know for sure that it was a Inline 5.
It came from the 1994-1997 Audi A6. From 1997 till 2001 Audi used a 2.5l V6 for their own A6.

All first an second gen. V70 used 5 cylinders.

It's a great car
I think they'd rather use a turbo I-5 than a V8 but thats just me.
Or they could compremise the two and use a turbo V8

You're missing the flagship model from the Classic V70 range - the 2.4 AWD R :D
