240sx vs 300zx

I'm looking for my car i think i narrowed my selection to these 2 now. My budget is about 2.5K and i was hoping to get one of these cars about '92. What do you guys think. I think the 240sx would be better because its cheaper. I live in the Midwest (U.S), do you guys think i can get a well conditioned 300zx for 2.3-3K? What about the 240sx? I pretty sure i can. Also i would like to know what you guys think of these cars performance and reliablility wise.

You can get an early (89-93) 240SX for that much if you're not afraid of high mileage, and as long as it's well cared for you shouldn't be afraid of that. Tha KA24 is a durable engine.
You're probably not going to find a Z32 (1990-96) 300ZX in that price range, but you probably can get a decent Z31 (1984-89) 300ZX for that much. I can vouch for the reliability and longevity of the n/a Z31's engine, the VG30E, I have the same engine in my 88 S12 200SX.

Oh, and if handling is really important to you, as your sig suggests, then the 240 will probably suit you better, it's quite a bit lighter than a Z31 and MUCH lighter than a Z32.

For about $5000-$6000 you can get a "GOOD" car wether it be the 240sx or the 300zx i would get the 300zx twin turbo though. :D

Thanks a lot, I was leaning more towoards the 240sx because of the price difference and thanks for telling me that there is a handling difference between them.

I don't have 5-6K though, im pretty broke, but thanks anyway.
