I like the big wheels on the Jag XKR, especially when they are fitted on a black XKR, they look mean! And you are right those Magna wheels are pretty crazy for stockers.

I like these.

is it just me or do the current range of Holden wheels look alot like previous ford wheels? those Calais rims look to me alot like the AU2/3 XR8 rims, same as the SS wheels look like the T1 TS50 wheels

Are those rims are alright but if ya wont some real rims go to Bob Jane T-Marts for a couple of grand you can get some wicked ones. You can even get the rims from Enix that spin backwards. :D

Vaguely, i do see the resemblence with the TS50 wheels, but i also think the BA XT wheel covers look like 1990 Mazda Astina ones, it's not a straight copy, more of a sample.

its something that kinda really stood out when i first saw the VY SS and the VY2 Calais but until now ive ketp my mouth shut about it. ill have to get some pictures together to make a better comparison. i never picked up on the XT and astina similarity but i guess its a design that works. with ford having a 34% sharehold in Mazda i dont think its as big a worry though

I guess the Calais is trying to do a Fairlane G220, be a sporty luxury car. So the sampling seems ok, i quite like the wheels anyway.

it is in fact following the Fairmont Ghia's lead with 17 inch wheels and sports suspension, i believe the series 1 VY only had 16 inchers and luxury suspension. Wheels when the VY and BA were first released, done thier mega tests and when they asked holden for a calais to test against the ghia, holden for some reason supplied one with 19 inch HBD alloys and the FE2 sports suspension package. Wheels weren't impressed to say the least and the Ghia easily won on ride comfort

Quite true, i read that story also, i don't think there was 1 test where the Vy ran close to the BA across the model range, 260kw XR8 vs 260 Clubsport apart.

fpv_gtho

well that XR8, SS and Clubsport test was rather interesting. Holden claim that the SS has moved further upmarket than what it originally was (hence the introductino of the SV8), yet that particular test seemed to have the XR8 split the holdens on the time sheets and i think the XR8 and clubby finished about even by the end. it would be a different story though with the VY2's unfortunately. Ive heard on a ford forum many people refer to the BA2 as project copperhead which sounds kinda suss consdiering its only a 2 year upgrade......

IBrake4Rainbows

Project copperhead, i thought they named all there projects after birds?

VY2 is already out isn't it, i doubt it'll be much better, a 245Kw engine doesn't really add that much power. The GTS with Öhlins dampers sounds quite good from what i've read however, almost up to the GT standard.

I doubt they'll do much to the BA, they've spent $500 Million or so dollars getting it to where it is, which is still pretty good, wait until the new falcon in 2006 or sometime to do some major damage.....

well we're probably getting a bit too far off topic here. respecting the forum ettiquet rule that i myself suggested, perhaps the conversation should be moved here: http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3187
