Pretty interesting idea huh? i do love the fact that you can see your car from your cabin.

Boeing Business Jets approached DesignworksUSA and challenged the firm to create a conceptual 787 aircraft interior for a fictitious, affluent, Russian client in his mid-thirties.

How times have changed since your common or garden Russian official had only the fearsome four-engine Ilyushin Il-62 from which to survey his dominion.

DesignworksUSA says it sat down with a blank sheet of paper and endeavoured to describe a day in the life of the owner, to examine the needs of a client that spends a significant amount of time travelling across the globe and needs an aircraft that can function as a second, luxurious home.

"The freedom to be able to go anywhere from anywhere, together with the possibility to create a truly inspirational space, served to define the vision for the design team," says DesignworksUSA.

The design team came up with an interior with semi-translucent walls, residential-style furniture that lets space "visually continue around it and vistas that let the eye travel beyond the immediate environment”.

DesignworksUSA also incorporated a "vertical architectural experience" by taking advantage of the 787's generous cargo space to create space for a car to "offer a seamless air-to-ground experience".

What more could a Russian tycoon want?

Wow, that's truly cool.

Now I can't wait for a person richer than this Russian tycoon make a home out of an Airbus A380. :D

Now the Wall Street Journal has a story on the first private A380, a project we first heard about way back in 2005. The $300 million plane will be going to an unnamed Middle Eastern head of state who will be spending at least additional $100 million on the interior. Jet interior designer (now there's a gig to have) will be creating The Flying Palace, a plane with two dining areas, a 600-plus-square-foot master bedroom , game room and an Arabian desert-themed lounge with curtains that resemble tents and a fiber-optic mosaic of a shifting desert scene. What is most intriguing is Doret's plan to create a whirlpool tub on the plane. The tub is designed in such a way that it can rapidly drain into the cargo hold if necessary.

That's so ridiculously unnecessary. I mean, I guess if you have the money it's no big deal... I wonder how long it takes to get bored when you're that rich?

Damned if I know:confused: If I had that much money would there even be time to be bored? Between all of the dreams that my wife and I have it'd take us what a year or two to get bored:p

I knew that it was coming. :p

Pretty cool stuff. Imagine asking your chauffeur to get you to London from Australia, instead of from Wall Street to 8th Avenue. That's gotta be real cool. :D
