Im looking around to buy my first car. I live in norway wich means that cars are expesive. Anyhow, I have ended up with 3 possible cars.

1. The VW Corrado G60. This is a risky car with a G-"thing" that can break. A VAG produckt = expesive parts, not the best for an 18 year old

2. Audi 80/90 Coupe, NOT quattro. This is a beautifull car, but i cant afford the Quattro. Also a VAG product.

3.BMW e34. Thinking about the 520 og 525. NOT a VAG product, so parts are cheaper. Rear-wheel drive is also a pluss, but not a critical one. I also like the styling, escpecially with deep/wide rims and a bit lowered.

What do you think about these Ive listet? Negative and positive sides. Wich would you choose if it was your money, and why? Feel free to find other alternatives.

I'd personally go with the BMW. It has that straight six, it looks good, is practical and is rear driven. I'd keep it standard though.

I'd go with the Audi or BMW, depending on price.

Audi Coupe, definately.
We've had quite a few in the family and currently have a 2.8 V6 quattro which runs perfectly and an S2. True both are quattro versions but out of the three you've listed above, I'd take the standard coupe over the other too. There are way too many E34 coupes about and if you're going to go VAG, you might as well go for the Audi.

For the Audi i'm looking at some 2.3 liters with about 136 or 170(?) hp.. I'we heard on other norwegian forums about these cars, and they all come to the same conslusion.. Save money so you can afford the Audi with Quattro.

You see, here in Norway we have a lot of snow, so they all say that quattro is tha shitz ;)

Yeah, you'll need the quattro in Norway, definately. Well the 2.8 has 171 bhp so I'm guessing the 2.3 would have 136.

Looks wise, i find Corrado and E34 to be the best looking. But I presume Audi Coupe is rarer, and of course it doesn't feel as cheap as a Vdub. And you're at Norway.... hence.... Quattro clears the snow right? save up.

As Vaigra said, AWD if you're in Norway. Save up a little more, you won't regret it when you're slip-sliding away in the BMW. The E34 and E30 are fantastic drift cars, but not so good when you're driving in snow and ice...

FWD will offer less in tail-happy antics when you're in those sort of conditions, but AWD still rules the roost. Why not try a Ford Sierra 2.9 V6 4x4? It may not have the image of the other two, but it's amazingly surefooted and pretty fast, too.

I can try to explain how expensive the Audi are here.
A "normal" costs 40 000 NOK, or 3353.45 GBP or 6705.78 USD

A Quattro one costs everything from 60 000NOK to 100 000NOK, 10058.68 USD to 16764.46 USD

So the difference is quite big for a kid :P

I found a realy nice 87 Sierra Cosworth to the price of 60 000NOK, 330hp and looked sweet  But thinking about the insuranse, expensive.

Maybe it will be a Sierra :P Other alternatives are appreciated, as well as more abuot the current cars..

I throw in a picture of the "Cossie" (Wich i dont think is a real cossie, but i dont care)

The 20v fuel injected 2.3-litre inline five had 170bhp and was available in the B3 Coupe. The B4 Coupe dropped that engine, but had the 2.8-litre V6 with 174bhp.

FWD will work fine in snow. Just won't be as fun.

16764.64 USD = 57 350.157 Malaysian ringgit

Approximately the same price as my 1997' Audi A4 B5 1.8T Frontrak, in which is still cheaper than some local made, new car.

Mind you, Malaysia had a much much lower GDP per capita compared to your country.

To give you a slight hint, a brand new Toyota Yaris costs $30,000 USD here, and an M5 is exactly 10 times that money.

So if Ive got you right, your saying that there are other countries with high car prices..? I know that, I ment that for example England and US have much lower prices for cars.

It was just to give a hint so an american wouldnt throw in some absurd cars, wich is half the price in america compared to Norway. ;)

btw; a brand new Yaris (the cheapest version) costs $27124.91 USD here, so the difference isnt that big

Hmmm even Swedish cars are expensive? Are there some Scandinavian pact on tax structures or something?

I've actually looked a bit at the e36 coupe, and the standard e36.
Nice car, and i found an e30 that was beautifull... No rust, completely new paint, 2.5 liters, m-tech styling and m3 interiour. Beautifull.

Cost = 48.000 NOK or 8046.94 USD

It's a 2.5 litre E30 with a very nice clean exterior and interior.
That be nice.

Subtle deep-dished rims = rice. Pfft.

That BMW looks quite good.

I personally think it has the power to back the looks. 170bhp is not to be sniffed at, particularly as cars were much lighter back then...

Riced?? Its M-tech styling! Thats not riced :P The rims where the finishing touch, and when it comes to power.. well.. as an soon to become 18year old, I would like too keep my license. 170hp is more than enough. Its not sleeper but it will some em anyway.. ;)

Anyone know any spesific faults with these modells?
Its a 1986 BMW 3-series 325...

It would look better with proper wheels on it, they don't even have to be stock. Those wheels are just ugly and look out of place. That's just my opinion.

I agree. Also the plastic bits on top of the headlamps look stupid too.

I'd hardly call anything to do with a BMW cheap when it comes to parts and labor...

...I'd go Corrado. Always have liked these cars...
