Ok, this girl made me a CD, and wants me to make her one, so I need some good song recommendations, I'm thinking mostly kind of Indie Rock type stuff, here's what I have so far just so you get an idea:

Third Floor Story - The Mother Hips
Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
PDA - Interpol
Evil - Interpol
Heinrich Maneuver - Interpol
Buddy Holly - Weezer
Say It Ain't So - Weezer
Perfect Situation - Weezer
Maria - American Steel
Dig - Incubus (She's a big incubus fan...and hasn't hear this? WTF)

any/all recommendations would be great...

Obstacle 1 - Interpol

Anything from The Strokes "Room On Fire" CD, can't go wrong with The Strokes. Actually, if she wants more inde style, I'd go with the album "Is This It" instead. Good luck tho.

Also check out American Analog Set - "Punk As F*ck"

I'm not sure exactly what 'Indie Rock' music is (non-degrading term for emo?) but from what I'm guessing it is, I guess I can recommend 311.

A lot of people my age listen to them, and they seem kind of like Incubus or Weezer, I think. If not just put on like 5 DMX songs and say f**k it.

DMX would be good. :p Roughriders anthem.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, I'll listen to these...except Asif...what're you a 10 year old girl?! :p

My Sacrifice - Creed?

Oh dear, no. I'm sorry, Creed are terrible, and in no way indie.

To Rocke: Indie is just short for independent, describing bands who self-release music, or release it on small "indie" labels. However, indie has become its own culture and genre nowadays.

I'll second/third/whatever The Strokes, with Is This It being their absolute prime album. Here are some more great indie tracks, mostly older stuff though. I find 90% of today's indie genre is derivative and oversaturated.

Pavement: Summer Babe (Winter Version)
Dismemberment Plan: The Jitters
The New Pornographers: From Blown Speakers
Modest Mouse: Anything from Lonesome Crowded West, or The Moon and Antarctica
The Flaming Lips: Slow Nerve Action
Franz Ferdinand: Anything off of the self-titled
Kasabian: Reason Is Treason
The Wrens: Faster Gun or Built in Girls

I'll stop myself for now, I can go all day about music.

36 Degrees
The Bitter End
Drag

Alright, here goes round two...

Apples in Stereo - Strawberry Fire
The Zutons - Havana Gang Brawl
The White Stripes - Fell In Love With a Girl (you really can't go wrong with any Stripes, though)
Secret Machines - Nowhere Again
Sam Roberts - Brother Down
Ratatat - Lex, Loud Pipes, or Tropicana (I cannot stress enough how cool this band is)
Spoon - The Way We Get By
MSTRKRFT - Street Justice
Lilys - Still All in the Glitter
LCD Soundsystem - Tribulations
Klaxons - Golden Skans, or Magick
Interpol - Slow Hands (can't get enough Interpol)
Peter Bjorn & John - Young Folks, Chills
Hot Chip - Over and Over, No Fit State
The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So
Broken Social Scene - KC Accidental
any vintage Blur is cool, Girls and Boys, Song 2, Death of a Party, etc.
The Futureheads - Alms
French Kicks - 1985

Most of this is 'indie rock' some is a bit dancey. If you want more variety I could suggest some poppy stuff, hip-hop, electronic, vintage jazz perhaps?

Franz Ferdinand
Arctic Monkeys
Maximo Park
White Stripes
The Vines

Method Acting
Road to Joy
The Movement of a Hand

Also, check out Modest Mouse's new album as well, and more Kasabian. Can't get enough Kasabian.

hahah i wouldnt say that recently, probably been like a month maybe? its mostly been emailing or myspacing and the occasional aim message. we had talked more before the last dispatch. theyve been gearing up for dispatch zimbabwe, finally doing another show. http://dispatchmusic.com/, 13 more days! it was cool though the way we started talking i signed up for the newsletter and they had one of those rep members things where everybody tries to promote the band and sends in their stories. i was president of the student body at that time so i had made a few pa announcements and raised money for the elias fund and they emailed me personally to thank me and we just started off there.

If there's one in Texas, I'm going. The only cities they'd probably play in are Houston (live here) Austin (this is the most likely one, only a 2hr drive) San Antonion (2.5hrs) and Dallas (4hr) so theyre all pretty close. Let me know if they do.

Those moments being 'Is This It' and 'Room on Fire' in their entirety. 'First Impressions of Earth' was about 50/50 for me.
