backhawk collection in danville, ca

a combination of:

fantastic cars,
frustratingly bad bad lighting,
and prohibited tripods.....

we shot there last year, after the Pebble Beach weekend but it is very difficult to get good quality shots for use on the main page. Fortunately they bring many of their cars out to Pebble for display in a special area of the field but also for participating in the Concours itself.

I like cmcpokey's pictures of the 500 Mondial. Especially the one he entered in the competition looks like the racer taking a rest afetr the race. Fantastic atmosphere.

thank you very much.

i would like to echo what Pieter said. it is a truely fantastic collection, of which i will be posting more tonight. it is just impossible to get a good roll out of it due to the extremely low light. great for preserving the paint, horrible for taking pictures.

that's the standard color for Ferraris bad illuminated, they all seemed like they were white socks washed with a red t-shirt. I had the same problem both at last year "Mitomacchina" in Roverento (north of Italy) and at the "Galleria Ferrari" last week.

Impressive shots for such bad lighting, or good lighting for that matter. Thanks pokey :)

that was about 1/4 of the shots of this one car, and those were what was good enough to post. the lighting is atrocious.

thanks for the compliments though. look for several more threads.

I have the same shots....I know the feeling, and they don't allow tripods inside....

I was just watching this video of the 500 Mondial, and although he says it's an inline 4, I see 2 cylinder banks.

What gives?

This Is The Admiral’s Ferrari 500 Mondial - YouTube (https://youtu.be/HpfJ1b-X7p4?t=5m38s)

On a side note, this video is also very nice, considering there's supposed to be only 3 original Mondials left.
