Those Dusters are relatively light. A car guy I know had his '72 Duster weighed- only 2,970 lbs.
With a modified 360-cu-in engine and 3.55 gears, you can see how it can run in the 12s.

The Duster? I don't think he knows. He did the 1/8 mile run and it calculated out to 13.5 seconds but two times the car lost traction as it was going down the strip (probably when shifting)... even sliding sideways a bit! He has since put on a set of better tires and said he will try it again at the strip soon.

I know a guy who had his Grand National running in the 9s. He had it running 900hp at the strip and he tuned it down to 500hp for the street.

My favorite drag car would be a Funny Car with John Force driving. :)

nice...i once saw a vw drag car that was awesome...
i wish i could i had the image..
it was a white vw powered by some turbo company, that i don't remeber the name..but its was very cool

i remember now its the vw eip turbo, front wheel drive.. very cool :)
