I live in NY, and my friend is selling me his 2000 S4 it has extremley fast acceleration, and its one of my fav cars so im dying to buy it from him. The only thing i was upset about is that he said the speed was electronically controled to not go past 130.

Now my question is is there anyway to take this off so i can use the full power of the engine.

And also is it true in Germany that they dont have this electronic down tuning?

Thanks alot, Nick

130 sounds very low

All German manufacturers have an agreement to keep top speeds limited to 155mph, unless they are sports/supercars (e.g. porsche 911, SLR)

Even the V8 Audi Le Mans will be limited.

This was to prevent cars becoming dangerously fast, but now technology with brakes, tyres, electronics make these high speeds much safer.

You should simply be able to get the ECU changed via a tuning specialist.
Try searching for Audi tuning specialists in your area on the web, or look on Audi specific forums, they will probably have more detailled technical info, or be able to reccomend a reputable place to do the mods.

130 is the fastest he's gone in it. He has a V6 with a turbo. Thanks for the reply
