Well, the calender for next year was released yesterday by the FIA and two new races as predicted have been added and the order of the races has been jumbled somewhat (Turkey moved forward, the USGP deleted, etc).

Here's the list (from GrandPrix.com via Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/28/2008-f1-calendar-valencia-and-singapore-in-montreal-in-jeopard/)):

Australia (March 16)
Malaysia (March 23)
Bahrain (April 6)
Barcelona (April 27)
Turkey (May 11)
Monaco (May 25)
Canada (June 8)
France (June 22)
Britain (July 6)
Germany (July 20)
Hungary (August 3)
Valencia (August 24)
Italy (September 7)
Belgium (September 14)
Singapore (September 28)
China (October 12)
Japan (October 19)
Brazil (November 2)

Nothing too unexpected really.

Yeah, it is kind of weird to not have a GP in the US. Luckily I live closer to the Canadian GP and plan on going there for '08.

So, despite the last week's anouncement, Australia will host the season opener. As for the new tracks - the European GP in Valencia and the first ever night race in Singapore - their dates still need approval by the organisers. Also the Canadian GP slot is still provisional, as there are doubts about financial backing, following the cancellation of the US GP.

Wow, if the Canadian GP doesn't happen it seems like Ecclestone or the FIA in general or whoever the hell else is behind it, is trying to decrease my interest in F1. :(

Great. I really hope they don't cancel the CGP. It now represents the only realistic chance for me and Canadians (and now Americans) to see F1. It'd be a real shame if it was canceled, especially seeing as the Grand Prix sells out and has a three day attendance of 300,000.
