Can be a mistake in translation, sorry if it is. Was there today.
Going there I've got some thoughts like 'Ohh, there gonna be just Volgas and nothing more', but, fortunately, I was mistaken. A good amount of great and rare cars were present.
Not only rally has been held at the event. While participants hit a 100 kilometers through the roads, I visited a Museum of Technics placed near to start/finish point. Never thought of seeing four different Delahayes in one place at one time  . But I did. Happily. A bit earlier I figured out that the service was open, went there and found a brilliant Cadillac V16 in it...
The next aim was to see a slalom among rally participants. Wow! Looking at Mercedes-Benz 600 or Cadillac Eldorado steering so hard was awesome. Moreover, some older cars were present on slalom, like Buick 44 or Lagonda LG45. Screaming tyres, screaming securities ('Where the f*** are you going?' :o )...
Concorso d'Eleganza was kept after the rally finished. Some really good cars, too. But I shot them before, at parking place, so, unfortunately, I have all my memory card already wasted when they started to be presented...
And now pics... What about pics... Unfortunately, my stupid cam is slowly dying and leaving a bad memory of itself. It becomes simply horrible. It doesn't keep focus anymore, it can't catch moving objects and so on. But, nevertheless, I'll post some pics that were 'better' (forgive me this word here).

So, 1935-1942 and then 1946-1950 Mercedes-Benz W136 170V Cabriolet.

drakkie, here it comes - GAZ 24 Volga.

Thanks man ! Don't ask me why precisely but I have a weak point in my automotive heart for the forgotten communist cars. For example the Moskvitch, Sachsenring and IFA's. Lovely cars and sometimes far ahead of western rivals (think of duroplast construction for example). Anything is appreciated !

Mercedes-Benz's 320 model was presented at 1937 Berlin autoshow in February. It replaced the 290 model, which represented the mid-class cars of Stuttgart manufacturer. Using Mercedes-Benz 320 chassis some pullmann-limousine, limousine, roadster, cabriolet and pullmann-cabriolet bodies were made. This exact car is one of the export Mercedes-Benz 320's, which exported to European market. In seventies it has been restored in famous Lecoq - French restoration service.

Is there anyway to find out whether these classics were recently imported, or like for instance the pre-war Mercedes spent much of their live already in the Soviet Union?

faksta

Some of them (like one more V16 Cadillac - will be later) are recently imported. What about the above Mercedes-Benz - it was purchased by the Automotive Club of Cabriolets and Roadsters (just translated the Russian naming) in 2005. But I don't know where was this car before. Maybe, in France (I have already mentioned Lecoq above).

As far as I can remember from a book downstairs it was first applied by Sachsenring/IFA. Some prototypes and an early production run of the F9 were built with it in '49 (? iirc ?). AFAIK they were basically forced to use it, as the import of proper quality steel from the BRD slowly grinded to a halt.

I never heard that the Duroplast stuff was also used in the BRD ! Did they cooperate with the DDR on this ? The Trabant book mentioned some international innovation price for Sachsenring, because of the application of the brand new material.

IMO the material was pretty advanced. It wouldn't rust and barely wear out. It's cheapness also helped ! For it's application it was sufficient, I guess.

In 1912 the maximum production level was reached - 600 cars were made that year. In 1913 and 1914 were produced just 236 and 250 cars accordingly. The high price acted negatively, moreover, Lozier didn't spend money on advertising. At a company management disagreements have begun, and in November 1918 the production was stopped.

have you got more info on the museum? And the dates of the arrivals of the cars? Two 8C2900s is quite significant...

Yes, they've got a website. automuseum.ru. They belong to a mentioned Automotive Club of Cabriolets and Roadsters. The Club was founded January, 13 2001 (not so long ago, what do you think? :) ). The founder of the Club is a president of Russian Guild of Antique Dealers - Vadim Zadorozhnyi. As I've been told at the event, the most cars are his own - he buys them at the foreign (for us, of course) auctions.
The main objective of the Club was to establish a Museum. You see, the goal is performed :) . It was founded just in July, 2004. This museum is one of the best automotive museums in Russia. All cars are authentic and on the run. Moreover, some of them constantly enter various rallies.
In 2006 museum had 40 cars for exposition, 23 car and bikes in restoration process and 25 awaiting for restoration.
Except cars, the museum has some number of military units, including planes and helicopters.
Members of a club are partly participate in the museum development. The Club provides services of storing and serving for the classics, searching and purchasing cars and another kinds of services connected with oldtimers.

Oh, by the way, I've been told that at the moment some 1938 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 is being restored, and they say that it's a one-off.

1939 Delahaye 135MS by Henry Chapron Carrossier.

Today French carmakers concentrate on providing us with non-expensive mid-class cars. Connection of powerful engines, effective chassis and expressive bodies entailed the appearing of cars which hold a strong place in history. Delahaye 175 received all that was necessary for relieving previous success of famous make. It was presented to public in October 1946 under the glass dome of Grand Palais. But the 175 never did become a completely finished model. Because of many reasons, such as high cost price, constant leak and high price of high-quality materials and, finally, comparing to 135, which 175 had to replace, the car was obliged to release a stage in 1951. It was a show-stopper on every autoshow, but almost never did hit the roads. Only 51 Delahaye 175's saw the light.

1939 BMW 326 by Wendler.

In 1936 at the international Berlin motor show the BMW 326 was launched. 1947 Delahaye 135M by Henri Chapron Carrossier.

An open car with a unique construction body - Cabriolet a Trois Positions - the tent could be retracted at all or just partly, so the body looked like a pseudo-landau. This body was a personal Henri Chapron work. This exact car was purchased in the USA in 2003 and restored in Club within 3 years. First time the car was shown at the 6th Oldtimer-Gallery in Moscow in 2005 without front bumper and other decorative body elements. But, nevertheless, it won a Grand Prix and a diploma 'for a high class of restoration'.

1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster.

Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster is seemingly the first cabriolet with a roof installetion/deinstallation while driving. Generally, 300SL Roadster appeared in 1957, three years after the famous 300SL Gullwing Coupe in 1954. The car was strongly modified - new rear axle, disc brakes, new lights and, of course, a new frame, which let to return to usual doors and to create a cabriolet body with automatic soft top. This car belonged to Monaco princess Grace Kelly.

Production years: 1957-1963.
Cars made: 1858.
Bodywork: roadster.
Weight: 1330kg.
Engine: 6 cyl., 2996cc, 240hp.
Max. speed: 250km/h.
Average fuel charge: 15l/100km.

Oh, yes, and to make some shame to myself... before Concorso d'Eleganza this car was burning its tyres on slalom track, not for the public, but for the owner's happiness. So, when I saw this from a big distance, I though 'Aren't they tired of 190SL's? There are so much of them in Moscow that they are already hardly could be considered a classic'. But when it drove off the track and next to me (the last pic of these six), I finally realized that it's a 300SL Roadster. It's very pity that I didn't catch it on a track... Hit me!

I know that it's an Opel GT :) I just don't know exact production year. Think it's gonna be an original modification. I mean, the same era.

1929 Buick 44 Model 120.

Buick is a car of rather conservative image. Such cars were often driven by mid-class representatives - those who could buy some non-expensive Cadillac, but were too modest for this. As a rule, the most Buick owners were doctors or lawyers. This car were purchased in 1929 by the assistant to a people's commissar of an aviation industry Mihail Ivanov while being to the USA for a business trip. As the car appeared in USSR, it has been hidden in Ivanov's garage at a summer residence in Kratovo. Owner didn't ride it until 1973, because he was afraid the car would be confiscated. Ten years later he sold it to a collector and restorator Mihail Statsevich, which presented it to the museum.

Production years: 1929-1930.
Cars made: 6195.
Bodywork: sport-roadster.
Weight: 1850kg.
Engine: 6 cyl., 3096cc, 105hp.
Max. speed: 145km/h.

Wow! I found out that this V16 belonged to Henry Martin Leyland - the founder of Cadillac company.

The other car, sorry. Don't know what I was thinking then :o. I'll post the pictures of the 'proper' car in another thread soon.
Fixed the post.
