Nice little video here (http://germancarscene.com/2007/09/21/bmw-e92-m3-vs-audi-rs4/).

It's in French so I have no idea what's being said, but the important sounds are there.

I've included a poll to see who prefers what, just can't help myself, curiosity is killing me.

Both are pretty nice, but I'd take the M3 in the end. Black please, with 19" wheels.

Your poll seems to be on vacation....

EDIT: I see it now, for some reason it was just not there before!

M3 for me all the way!

Really? Strange, I'm seeing one vote for the RS4 and one vote for the M3 so far...

I saw some pics of it again in a local newspaper the other day. I have to admit, it looks better and better every time I look at it.

I'm hearing good things about it's handling as well, and it definitely has the upper-hand in the grunt department.

If handling's as good as some say it is, we might have a new champ?

Would RS5 vs. M3 vs. CLK 63 AMG be more appropriate?

In this pair, the RS4. The Audi is more practical.

I'm not convinced that the E92 M3 is all that great.

Evo gave the E46 M3 CS a clear win over the RS4 when the RS4 was launched, but the E92 was declared as being only marginally better at the limit than the RS4, not to mention that in their latest "M car" test, being the only current "M" car to reach the "final" (by default) it came 4th out of 5, bettered by the E46 CSL, E39 M5 and E30 M3 Sport Evolution.

It seems that the "M" cars reached a peak with the last generation, and the new models are getting worse, not better; too much weight, electronics and tyres.

Why would you need to give someone 11 different gearbox settings and however many similar choices of damping, electronic intervention, steering response, power output even, if the basic set up is right?

Audi, on the other hand, seem to be improving all the time.

A good point you brought up with the weight. How can the M3 end up 5kg heavier than the RS4? It doesn't have 4wd and supposedly has carbon-fiber bits...

And the engine isn't at all as impressive as I was hoping for. It's not bad, but it hasn't exactly moved any goalposts either.

It also appears to have a couple of more doors:confused:

That's probably the most confusing part. What will the M3 4-door end up weighing? It can't end up weighing less than the coupe...?

I'm surprised too, I wouldn't think that the new M3 was heavier than the RS4..they said that the new V8 was lighter than the old inline 6

RS4 for me, or a decent engined IS, but the RS4 really has it all, 4 doors, v8, manual, i could do without the awd. A great looking car to :)

I'm Beemer guy so I'd pick the M3, but I don't think you can go wrong either way. M3 for the summer and RS4 Avant for the winter?

Also, I'd take either over the C63 - a car like this has to have three pedals. Unless of course we can throw the Brabus Bullet in the equation.

Definately the RS4. It is more practical as it has 4 doors and unless i am racing on a track, i dont need the rear wheel drive as the 4WD is good enough for a day to day basis.
