Summer in australia brings with it an entire different lifestyle to the rest of the year. Everything slows down, plants get greener, Dogs get dirtier, the esky gets a workout as weights, chair and cooler of the all important beer. The air gets fresher, it smells different. and everyone is on the same wavelength. shorts and a T-shirt are the national uniform, with all but the imports choosing different. We all flock to the water, family and dog in tow. Driving becomes pure pleasure as the tarmac is dry, warm and grippy. Only those with a real chip on their shoulder find it hard to smile and say G'day to everyone and everything that moves at the local areas. Young families are sharing their holidays together at beaches around the nation, teenages are casting off the shackles set during school and having a ball being independant.

Summer really does bring a palpable change, and as such my music tastes have differed from more heavy rock music. The music going through my summer reads abit like this. The cat empire, Jack johnson, The beautiful girls, and john buttler trio. mix in a few upbeat dance songs, a sprinkle of rock (a la Foo fighters) - and a twist of R'n'B from hilltop hoods, and a zest of pop, and youve got yourself one seriously upbeat summer whiteballz.

Easy for you to say, we're moving into Autumn. :D

However, I seem to like the cold a lot more than the heat. The summer's usually not dry, it's been humid and wet, so I can't wait for the snow to come.

Humidity stinks. I wouldn't mind dry heat though. It's a shame we don't get more of that up here.

Its great here in Australia in summer. I am about to leave for Fraser Island (for those who dont know, the largest sand island in the world) we are diving there form Sydney tonight and tomorrow. It showld be a great time as it is my first trip to Fraser.

By the way, whiteballz, great choice in music (but Hilltop Hoods, never got into them).

Yea, tops. I prefered it when it was drier though, it's been all too humid over this side for the past few summers or so. Still, this summer I have properly functioning air-con for the first time in forever, so it'll make a change from being concerned about the old mini. Makes me pine for my old uni days... dancers + summer = :D

My town lives off of tourism. You know summer is officially over when they all leave, because suddenly there is nothing to do, and nobody to talk to. Now that I think about it, this place is quite depressing for all but about 3 months of the year.
