carinho40: 1

Congratulations carinho40, on the first win of 2008. Fitting it was a fireworks shot at that.

For those of you who may not have read it yet, I'll be doing a 'Best of 2007' vote, starting with 4 rounds (using each week's winning picture, broken down into four initial polls) to a final vote for UCP's favourite picture of 2007. Look for it soon, coming to a forum near you. In the meantime, let's follow up with an equally packed competition this week.

Which image is your actual entry, as you're only allowed one per week.

Also, it seems I missed this drakkie drama, and I'm not quite sure what the problem is. I'm going to have to say, especially for ease of voting thread creation, that images must be here via the attachment system. I would like to know what abuse you speak of; especially since your image can still be saved from your web space.

Canon A640 w/ Polarizer

Can you put multiple filters on your camera at the same time? No, right? Does the polarizer also do the work of a UV filter?

Did you take that pic on a special setting? I tried taking pics at night 2 days ago at the M setting and fiddled with the ISO.

Yes. It depends a little on the filters. I have a very thin polarizer so it can fit on my UV filters. The only problem is getting them off again, which can be tedious. Thicker polarizers might give vignetting problems.

Well.. to tell the truth I have no clue what filter was on the camera. I just got the camera and filters for christmas and have no clue, so I guess for which one it was. It was a set of UV, Flourescent, and a Polarizer. So maybe you can enlighten me and tell me which one is which from the picture I attached. I used the one on the left...

I've only had it for 3 weeks, throw me a fricken bone here... haha

The polarizer is the one in the centre. From your shot, it looks like it was fluorescent filter.

Do you recommend a certain type/brand of polarizers? And maybe any other filters?

Edit: Are these good?

I dunno :S :( I'm completely new to this.

This one seems adjustable: Hama - Hama Polarisatie filter circulair - 62mm (http://www.saake-shop.nl/products/Hama/1226/Hama+Polarisatie+filter+circulair+-+62mm.html)
While this seems unadjustable: Walimex - Walimex CP filter – 62mm (http://www.saake-shop.nl/products/Walimex/195/Walimex+CP+filter+%96+62mm.html)

The Walimex filter has two separate rings, one to screw on top of the lense and the other turns around, without the handle like the Hama has. I still have (but don't use) an old 52 mm Vivitar filter that works the same way as the Walimex

i have a B+W c-pol and it's very good as to mine standards... i think if you aren't very much into photography, this'll suffise greatly. here's a non-edited pic illustrating a sky as seen from my window. because the smallest lenght is 18 mm that's the widest photo i could take.

ah you know, i think i'll have a go and participate in the comp, why not

The polarizer has to adjust, otherwise it would only work from one angle.

I've chosen this image because I wanted to share a view of the Federation Square, a big waste of money here in Australia. Not a huge fan of the overexposure of the multiple street lights around the area.
