The coveted, perhaps most debated issue of this year's awards. Out of the following, what do you feel is the car of the year?

I could make a pole on grape jelly and strawberry jelly, and the R8 would win.

I have no problem with it losing last year, I am trying to show to badda that it is not invincible in the eyes of enthusiasts.

I think it is a very deserving car to win.

Since when?

Well it was discussed in the nomination thread and never really decided, so I guess either Rocke made a mistake in this thread or made his mind up for the rest of us.

Poll can be redone.

This car of the year stuff is really hard to narrow done, apologies.

Then don't say it was "agreed". ;)

In my opinion only cars released in 2007 should be allowed. If you say cars that has been on sale in 2007, then the Citroen C5 might be out since if I'm not mistaken it's not on sale yet.

Is the Reventon a 2007 model? All I found is that it was presented in late 2007, but was it actually on sale in 2007?

Yes, I want the GT3 RS to win, even if it has to be by calling cheat on the R8 and Reventon.

K, here's what I think we'll do. (Sorry about the R8, I wasn't thinking when I included it in the poll. The damn car was nominated like 50 times and made me forget that it was introduced in 2006)

Instead of making Car of the Year a UCP Award, we'll take it out of the ballot and just do it seperately. We can renominate all the cars again and then have a fixed voting.

Since we're changing sails on this boat, do you guys want to make awards for COTY under 50k, SuperCOTY, and race car of the year?

I say two awards: Street Car of the Year, and Race Car of the Year.

What the hell is gonna be the rules for Race Car of the Year? Need the car be released in 2007?

Any car that competed in 2007.

Kitdy

Any car that competed in 2007.

So let me get this straight. For the street cars, the car must have debuted in 2007, but for race cars, any car in 2007 is eligible?

Why not just say in each case any car of 2007 is eligible?

Obviously, for street cars we have to set a time limit. Otherwise people would nominate the McLaren F1 or something. When it comes to race cars, when taking into consideration the calendar year 2007, all cars racing this past year are essentially new cars, since they are being worked on, built/rebuilt, and redesigned for that particular race/season.

It may sound weird/confusing but in a nutshell, racecar eligibility should fall under all cars that competed in 2007. With these limitations, cars like the McLaren MP4-21 or Mitsubishi Evolution VII WRC couldn't count towards the vote. (Not counting historic racing car series)

Yes, the time limit could be for cars on sale in 2007 - what's the problem with this?

I think we should have seperate road car categories like you said in your post Rockefella - supercars, under $50K, etc.

My vote goes to the CCXR

Street.

Yeah, I agreed with that.

Street cars would be for those released in 2007. Racecars are eligible according to competition in racing for that respective year.

I don't think any car sold in 2007 should be eligible. Imagine if a very old car was about to be superseeded but was sold until Jan 2007. It would still be eligible, but hardly the 2007 COTY, don't you think?

Well then we disagree.

Perhaps it's an idea to look towards the magazines and other websites with their various COTY/PCOTY nominations. They all have a specific set of rules regarding what is allowed as an entry for each year, rather than our current arrangement.

So is it what was introduced, on sale or what?
