View Full Version : 2008 Modena Terra di Motori Hi-Res Photoshoot

OH HAI folks!:D
i'm sorry but i'm a bit excited about this first day at Modena Terra di Motori, a little "autoshow" in the center of Modena with modenese, and not only, production of cars and of course supercars. the day started quite poorly, with the main square covered by Ferrari......but none of them was really "special" except for a 355 Challenge. i'm not complaining like a local dude i heard telling "la 430 è la più lofi", which, in local language means "the 430 is the lamest one"....ehm, NO!
then i found some good ladies from the past (including an Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI ), and the new Granturismo S at the Maserati's stand and then............:eek::eek:TWO ZONDA !!!:eek::eek: i took 65 pics just of them...and some posters of the 'ring record run...very gentle people, i have to say, and even competent, not simply some hostess.
i took something like 207 pics at the end, at 8 Mpixels, including some "native" cars. it's about 3 mb for every pics, so i'm going to decide which pics to post and then resize them. if someone is interested in the whole set, let me now, we can find a way i geuss.

btw, here comes the list (next post, let me check!) of the cars, so you can tell me your preferences about which pics i should post the most...and tomorrow, DAY 2 !:D

EDIT: i finally decided to post ALL the pics, and i updated the index with the content of the whole thread.
pls, take a look at post #132
and now ENJOY!

"Lofi"?!? ... never heard about that... o meglio, mai sentito :D
Talking about "Modena Terra di Motori", how much does it last? What do the owners of the cars do during the event? Do they show off their cars and that's it? Well, I think it could be enough...
By the way... I am someone interested in the whole set... :p

EDIT: Sorry, I've just re-read the post and noticed "tomorrow, DAY 2!" -.-'

If it's not late already, I wouldn't mind that blue prepped Fiat behind RS200 on its first shot, it stands just between Balilla and Topolino. I'm not sure what model it is, maybe 1100? Also Lancia Fulvia HF and Delta would be great. BTW, what is the car before Autobianchi - cream-coloured one with dark stripe? Also very interesting :p Thanks :)

LeonOfTheDead

I believe it was actually Peugeot rather than Chrysler who used the Talbot name when they bought Chrysler Europe. Since it looks like late Simca Rallye it was probably raced by the local Simca-Talbot dealer.

unfortunately i didn't read the sheet on the windscreen, too busy taking shoots for you, but from the old pic it seems it was raced by a local garage. i cannot say anything more than it is called 1965 Talbot Simca Rallye 2...:o
so now the question is: is it a Talbot or a Simca? i would like to know under which folder to archive it:)

It is a Simca 1000 Rallye no doubt about it, altough I'm sure the year is wrong. The Rallye 2 was built from 1973 to 1978.

Ignore the corporate mess created by PSA and Chrysler. It is Simca. There was no such thing as Talbot 1000 Rallye.

the dark haired lady between the cars is Pagani's wife...she stayed at the "stand" for great part of day one, giving posters and answering questions, and she seemed to enjoy it. i am wondering if you know some others like Pagani or his wife, so gentle to be photographed with the first folk that recognize him, and walking trough the city as a normal person, one of us, and not as a sort of "super king"...you could say that "Mr P4/5" is not arrogant at all..yes, but i met Pagani first! sorry Napolis!:D

now, i just read this thread
http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/multimedia/34065-bad-news-atspeedimages-com-closed.html
and i think the site closed for the best reason, as also Sauc3 underlined.
this is my first time posting pics of my own, and i am very proud of some of them, no matter if they are worthy or not, for me they really are since i walked for hours and didn't stopped a second, i could stand in front of the cars admiring them and studying them, but i took these pics. because i did want to do that, so i could involve some good folks on the forum.i was thinking about to add a micro watermark on them, a very small one, just to let you know that i'm very proud and happy with them, and not preventing you to spread them through the internet. but i didn't, not this time at least. i hate to use an image as a wallpaper if there's a stupid signature greater than the OS bar too.
i am just asking all of you to use these pics, considering all pics not only mine, as you like, but respecting who took them. i don't think to be a new pro photographer, but at the end of the second day i was pretty tired, just this.
thank you for understanding this point of mine and of other people who enjoy sharing their pics.:)

btw, i have some more pics to post, stay tuned!

Why does the blue Scaglietti have a provisional plate?

Under it there seems to be regular registration plate...

the Alfa Spider also was in the same conditions...i guessed, for as regards the 612, it is a Ferrari's car or of a dealer, but without a valid insurance, so they used a provisional plate to solve the problem. so for the Alfa probably...

what ?

LeonOfTheDead
04-27-2008, 02:20 PM
i guess i didn't express myself properly...:o
what i was saying, is more or less, this. there were a lot of "grandfather", old men, especially the second day, in the square, looking at the cars. listening to them, to what they was saying an with which attitude, i felt they think to be as good as Enzo Ferrari, probably "one of us" they think, but they didn't have the same opportunities or what else, so they are blaming fate for the fact that now they are looking at a car with the name of a man that was in a way like them.
so i like to consider the fact they were continuously hindering me from taking the shoots of ferrari's cars as a sort of silly revenge...

i hope my english is good enough this time...

true but flip screen LCDs on cameras help (like mine)

because they can see through ropes right ?

LeonOfTheDead
04-28-2008, 05:33 AM
because they can see through ropes right ?

i was thinking the same...

if a rope is at 1 centimeter from the car, there's no way to avoid it to be a part of your shoot. look at the pics of the pantera gts, for example.
on the other side, is easier to "momently" move a rope than to kick the grandpa...but i enjoy both, when i have some spare time and no one is watching;)

alex1485
04-28-2008, 05:48 PM
because they can see through ropes right ?

no, because you can lift it way over your head and angle the flip screen so you see what you are taking a pic of, and angle it around the ropes (assuming the ropes aren't too close to the car)

example: "part 5" on page 8, the 3/4 outside angle pictures on the orange pangani wouldn't have been cut ;)

Gt1Street
04-29-2008, 01:12 AM
its not like we can't do it aswell, it just might take a try or two.
but that's not the case since its not the angle you seek after mostly

LeonOfTheDead

the fact is that if you want a frontal angle of a low shot, there's no way to avoid the ropes even with a flip screen. i'm sure in some cases it can be very useful but i also think it makes you taking shoot from different angles from the one that should be good in a particular occasion just because "you can".
my opinion: the ropes are there, and it's silly to take pics with unnatural angles just to make them disappear, people would think. oh, this shoot is so high just because i cannot see the ropes which i know are there. and then, you would always see the car from this high shot, which is a little strange.

alex1485

try it before you disprove of the screen, it has helped me, and it would help you (even if you didn't use it, it would still be there as a "just in case" - just like having too much memory)

not really. Just another perspective, but i guess i'm more picky than you on shots (of cars i might not see again).

sure, i never said that, but maybe by then, you won't have a chance to shoot or too many people would be in the way or the perfect lighting would change.

third: taking a pic with a different angle thanks to the flip screen, imo is like to loose the shoot because of people or of lacking of light.:)

i didn't do the 3 posts intentionally, and i don't care about post count, to be honest. thats cool that flip screens didn't help you, they help me for making a poitn and shoot camera not so limited and more flexible than a DSLR for static non moving shots :)

PS- is taking a pic with a flip screen "imo is like to loose the shoot because of people or of lacking of light." I don't get that. It might be your english barrier. But hey, if you want to be limited and not try to get the best shots possible, go ahead! :) I was just trying to help you. But apparently you don't need it ;)

my english could be not good as your, and i know, and i am trying to improve it. and my ability with a camera is far from being professional, but i think i am improving it. the tip: change your new camera (350 €) with one with a flip screen, it could not be a good tip, and i neither think that a camera with the flip screen is what could make my ability "not limited". i am fine with my camera and i don't like flip screen by now, it's a personal opinion, but i am not saying that you should get a camera without the flip screen, you can have your own opinion, and that's fine for me.

One thing that I've noticed with my Nikon DSLR is that it's extremely hard to take pictures unless I have my eye to the viewfinder. Difficult angles are hard to take pictures. How do you guys take pictures when you don't have the "live view" feature in a DSLR?

every time i pass where the two zonda were parked, i feel like that place was made to be fit with those cars, now it's so empty...btw, today my best friend call me saying there was a grey zonda in front of his house and that when the guy (his mom say it could be a very young one) parked the car he scratched against the sidewalk...:mad:

speaking of that, I saw a Maserati MC12 with a huge scratch (5-7inches?) across the side, in the blue area (near the bottom, kinda in the middle).... i'm sure it got fixed.

LeonOfTheDead

i'm sure it got fixed.

i'm sure i would like to say something to the owner...
the onwer ofthe 599 spotted in this photoshoot is another good one: he looked at everyone even at 3 meters from the car as if they could in anyway "infect" his car or ruin the paint job just looking at it. than he put his jacket in the boot and slammed the trunk as if it was that of an old...i don't know, a renault 19?!
as my friend said, translating: "you have to be very poor to spend so much money and don't take care of it"
