Aston has apparently taken the wraps off a new car... with a 7 liter V-12. Looks pretty sexy on first glance.

Surprise reveal: Aston Martin One-77 (http://www.leftlanenews.com/aston-martin-one-77.html)

that together with news of a collaboration between aston and mercedes (RUMOUR: Aston Martin and Mercedes Planning Cooperation? (http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080807.001/rumour-aston-martin-and-mercedes-planning-cooperation)) makes a lot of sense. Use their engine, as the pagani zonda does, takes a great deal of problems out of making a new model!

Why would Aston use a Mercedes engine...thats one of their merits...

Like the idea, hate the price tag, but exclusivity is definitely calling on this one.

I thought this was going to be a mid-engine... still... looks good so far, like all Astons.

Once again Aston Martin make no changes at all to the looks of their cars!

I don't understand why it looks a bit like the DB9.

Mercedes engines are also very good, let's remember, and will almost certainly be more reliable than Aston Martin.
Looks the nuts though, and with two of my favourite companies collaborating, i'd be delighted.

Oh, and this is £1million... That's $2million :o

The same guy who designed the DB9 probably designed this car. He needs to get his creative juices flowing. :D

I guess it looks alright. Need to take a look at the headlights. But it's a good recipe to start off from. The price tag is a big high though. See a trend here? It's like the Air Force- every succeeding plane has to be bigger, better, more advanced and expensive. Same idea here. The Veyron was supposed to be the most expensive. Now this. It really is getting boring. It's not hard creating an expensive car. Meanwhile, putting that performance into a cheap car is much more interesting.

Exactly. How many DB9 variants will they try...and they all depreciate like Yugo's.

looks like a vanquish GT-R..

but nice! nice to see aston slightly moving away from the DB9 shape instead of over-using it.

I don't think it looks *that* much the same. It has some of the similar styling cues, its still obviously an aston martin, but it is a sexy bitch.

I'll reserve judgement until I see it. However a 7 litre V12 is is pretty behind the curve when everybody is talking about going to smaller engines.

Also in regards to the rumor that Aston is going to start getting their engines from Mercedes-Benz I have just one word: pathetic. It's one thing for a tiny company like Pagani or Morgan to source engines, but if Aston thinks they can be considered on the same level as Ferrari or Lambo they need to be able to produce their own engines.

I guess it's a cheap way of getting more power.

Then again they could've supercharged or turbocharged the 5935cc engine. Maybe the engine bay was too cramped or something.

henrik fisker designed the db9.. he has his own company now, so it wasnt him. even his was an evolution of ian callum's db7. it is the aston design language. it extends back 50 years, so it probably wont change for a long time ahead.

the mid-engined supercar idea went away with the sell off from ford. Dr. Bez has discussed that it quite a few interviews. i think a mid-engined car is very un-aston, but this is spot on.

Looks like a mash of 599 GTB and DB9

I'd hold off judgment of the aesthetics until you have a real picture of it.

Didn't know that he's not part of Aston anymore. Still, you have to say, the Aston Martin range resembles each other way too much.

it's a carbon fiber chassis. all other AM are aluminum.
I have the feeling it could share a lot of parts, if not the whole chassis, with the MB SLR

Aston Martin is like the new Porsche. They build the same style car over and over and it still lives up to the predecessor.
