Frank Rinderknecht has provided the world with several very interesting project cars during the past decade, the last one being the submarine car...
His "other" activities consisted of the tuning of Porsches, a department now sold to Mansory, effective from the the first of November 2008.
Personally I think this is a good move, as the "green" activities of Rinspeed somehow conflicted with the raw tuning of already not so eco-friendly cars. Hopefully the deal will provide him with sufficient cash to continue his "green" stuff, where he excels.
As far as Mansory is concerned, this is one of the many German tuning companies, and certainly not the most subtle one. Their renderings of Bentleys and Aston Martin are debatable at best.....

Mansory has tuned a car from outside britain... that's the 599...

My problem there is that mansory is not good in the asthetics department...

I don't know if you'll agree with me... but look at these pics of the 599 and slr tuned by mansory

Not good is a bit of an understatement.

I'd say they are completely hopeless.

All I can say is....Man, sorry.

I loved rinespeeds creative cars. The creation of cars that we didn't even know we needed is both a comic relief, and something to awe about. Will rinespeed still be making mad cars?

Like Sledgehammer i like the lunacy of Rinspeed.
I hope all their weird concepts dont turn into ugly spoilers and bodykits.

One can only hope that there are in fact no takers for these horrific eyesores & that they remain pixels on some designers screen.

to build them is to gaze into hell itself.

I suppose you are talking about Mansory....

i was referring to mansory, at least - i just assumed rinspeed doesn't actually sell any cars (although they get bonus points for originality)

Naturally - Rinspeed are often the epitome of good taste and aesthetic appeal.

Interestingly I took this shot at the 2007 Geneva Motorshow....don't get fooled, because from another angle you can see the words Mansory on the Roller's license plate...

In the end it's still an ostentatious excessive vehicle thats been "Pimped" out.

Seriously, was the paint just a low gloss or actually Matte Black?

Nope, that's still hopeless.

EDIT Even if slightly less revolting than the ones posted at the start of thread.

Altough on the other hand why would anyone want to tune a Rolls-Royce is certainly beyond me.

The reason I posted this is that already in early 2007 Mansory and Rinspeed obviously joined a stand at the Geneva Motorshow, and just recently the take-over took place...you can see the words Rinspeed clearly on the panels surrounding the stand. The Rolls if awful....I got some shots of that golden SLR if anybody is interested....

Actually... After looking at their webpage...

I've found out that they have actually done something good.

Aston Martin V8 vantage by mansory...

Just don't mind the color if it looks horrible in yellow and the background is not much to look at. but immagine that car in another color you might want...

I don't know if you'll agree with this one on me though....

But for me... this looks better than the stock v8 vantage

i think that's a weird move... Rinderknecht lived from tuning porsches and it was like that since 80's, and his concepts are just like publicity stunt or kind of his hobby - a way of promoting a brand living from tuning porsches. so... if he sells the part of company which he lives from, how's he going to earn money?

that's what I suggested, from the revenues of the sale.....

Now he invests in VW shares and lives happily ever after! :p

Mansory's look like mutated zebras from outer space frankly. Rinspeed's may not be classicly beautiful, but they're usually at least innovative or interesting.

do they sell cars or is it just renders for now?

yeah, Middle East and Japan are the main markets.

in the press release, they (Rinspeed) say they will now focus on the core business, that is to say Rinspeed Concept Cars. apparently, all those concepts aren't selfish, but developed to show their technological achievements, patents, promoting them and eventually sell them.

I used to like the tuning-porsche division too, "classier" and more understated than their colleagues from Deutschland.
something that will probably disappear with the Mansory take over maneuver.
