Hey everyone. I haven't found any real information on this car, let alone people who own or have drived them to get feed back from. I'm getting a new car because I'm making the money to finally. I'm wanting a Sentra SE-R Spec V, I was wondering if anyone knows about the car or owns one. Any information would be awesome, I have narrowed my searches down and need to make a final decision. Thanks for any help! :D

Ah, I don't have any experience with those. I test drove an 04 for a weekend. The engine a transmissions should be similar though.

It tops out in 5th so the 6th gear is only good for cruising on the highway. The torque is strong so you'll spin your wheels shifting into third if I remember correctly. And shifting into second under hard driving results in a lot of wheel spin. So much that a 5spd wouldn't necessarily have been a bad thing. But that's the perormance side.

The 04 felt too tall and skinny for my liking but the new design seems lower and wider so that feeling may not still be there. (But I had also just come off of driving a 300zx so everything would feel that way.) The 04's also handled pretty nicely and felt pretty good to drive. I also hadn't driven a manual in like 6 months at the time and never had drivien a 6spd but I took to it real easy and I imagine the new one has a friendly transmission as well.

I'd say it was a pretty nice mixture of performance and economy for the most part. Take a test drive of the new one a report back, I'm interested now.

The new one? I have the Nuerburgring DVD :D

It's nice and all, but I heard it's kinda lacking in certain areas. Road and Track tested it.

No on the Si.. They are more expensive and the only Si I want to buy is the Mugen. And its in the 30g price range.. a bit out of my range. The Spec V I am looking at now is 21,000 and its a 2009. But I am also looking at a used 2008 with 7000 miles for 16,000.

Go for the used and save the rest for hookers and blow. Er, I mean modifications.

As if i haven't taken it into consideration already.. ;) no really though if the dealership keeps the car until next week I'm going to start getting stuff ready to possibly buy it. It's red.. I wanted black.. but red looks pretty bad ass. Plus this way, if i buy it used, there will be no lease involved. Which is good. There is also the possibility right now that i can take my brothers truck payments over, he recently bought out his lease on his 05 X-Runner. This weekend will tell all. :)

I'm still trying to find exactly what is done to the Spec V to achieve 200 hp. Bored over? If anyone could help me with that I would appreciate it.

what engine is it? some variant of the SR20?

I know there was a 2.0 turbo in the nissan x-trail that used the SR20, so i guess its possible they've gone to use it again in the sentra..

Why not a used Infiniti G35?

i seem to remember from that 'how to make a rice burner do a 14 sec run' article. the real question imo, is how can they not make 200hp from 2.0L

I'm not sure if i know a single 2.0L naturally aspirated engine (newer car) that produces 200 horse. Hell my tC is a 2.4 and it only makes 161. Displacement, as related as it can be, can to horse power, can also be absolutely unrelated. Hell my 4.3 makes just as much power as my 2.4.

Look at Honda.

Look at Honda.

Yes but those engines are not very suited to every day driving. Not all car buyers enjoy having to rev the hell out of their cars to move a couple of feet in a traffic jam.

Isn't VTEC supposed to give you the best of both worlds?

Anyway you do have point. Altough I guess someone who buys a Type-R is prepared to live with that.

apart from a lot of honda's, toyota gets close with a 1.8, and nissan's own SR20ve gets 200hp which is why i asked what engine this car has.

exactly, although you wouldn't have to rev it so much if your car isn't a barge, haha.

^^ loled at that

Toyota has a 1.8 liter engine that produces 200hp? MR2?

The old Corolla and Celica T-Sport had a 1.8 litre engine with 192bhp. It's the engine than now powers the Elise.

Not where im from. Not at a dealer any way. I'm financing what ever it is i end up with, looking for payments around or less than 300 a month. My brothers truck is crossed off the list, He pays 345 a month, plus gas. So more than i want. I was thinking, and this is way off any other car i have ever had, power wise. Of possibly getting a 09 yaris, with the optional 18" rims from trd I can get one brand new for 15,000.

Yaris with 18" wheels? Don't do that.

If you are looking at a Yaris why not a Fit?

or a Scion TC coupe?

The Yaris probably drives better, since it less MPVish than the Jazz.

And I know nothing about the TC. But I think the original plan was better, despite not knowing anything about the Nissan either.

If you don't need the seats you could look at a used MX-5. Or if you need the seats a used Mustang.

IBrake4Rainbows

Wouldn't they be offering fantastic financing deals on Mustangs to try and keep Ford afloat?

and then, if the company goes bust, you don't owe anything?

Win, win?

Certainly not anything with a blue oval on the front.

Ha no kidding. And I already have a Scion TC so that's kinda a last option. As for a yaris with 18's. they look good go to toyota and create one. As for ford, no sales. Even if i got a mustang i would get a gt. As for v6's are for sissies. How i want one would be about 25,000 atleast.

But they kill everything. Ride comfort, fuel consumption, speed, fun. Not to mention the tires will be more expensive.

And, no matter how good it looks on the computer, it's still a roller skate with bigger wheels.

People will laugh at you.
