Inspired by the "Road Surfaces" thread, if anybody has pictures taken while driving, post them here. I think it would be cool to get a taste of what it's like to drive in all the various places UCP members live.

You'll have to forgive the low resolution on mine, they're all taken with the old 640x480 digicam I keep in my car.

1) Interstate 66, Northern Virginia, approaching the Beltway
2) The original Main Street of America, U.S. Route 1, north of Raleigh, NC. Route 1 runs from north-south along the East Coast from Maine to Key West
3) Interstate 66, Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.
4) Downtown Richmond, Virginia, seen from northbound Interstate 95

Yes I do, as a matter of fact, here goes with the other coast.....
I was in SoCal on business in 2000, with a co-worker who was from Lisbon and had a decent camera. This explains why the pics are better, and also why some of the filenames are in Portuguese. :D

1) Junction of Interstate 5 and Interstate 710, Los Angeles
2) I-5 northbound, downtown L.A.
3) Travelling down Hollywood Boulevard, North Hollywood
4) Blazing north on the Pacific Coast Highway, approaching Malibu

What are you driving?

In the California pics I'm driving a rented 2000 Mazda 626. In all the other pics I'm driving my 1988 Nissan 200SX SE V6.

I like roller coasters a lot. Although I'm not sure if I know enough to be an enthuisiest. :) BTW, do you take the high up shots from a helicopter?

Thanks for hijacking my thread, guys!

Seriously though, that coaster site is really cool. I think I found an error though. In the listing for King's Island, it states that the "Beastie" had its name changed from "Scooby-Doo" in 1980. I can tell you however, that was the first roller coaster I ever rode, I was in kindergarten and lived in Columbus, the year was 1982, and it was still called Scooby-Doo at that point in time.

And hasn't anybody else taken any pics while driving? C'mon, post 'em up!

From observation towers or while riding other roller coasters. Sometimes it can be pretty intense :)

I took the first picture here by turning sideways while hurtling over the larger hill of the coaster in the second picture at around 120km/h

I took this pic today, not a very good pic cause I took it while traveling at 40mph... but it is worth looking at it.

That's an SL55 AMG

Yep, Boca Raton Florida. I took it today and a bunch of others in the latest thread that I made.

Gorgeous pics, Guibo!
Definately, desrving of some positive rep.
Hwy1 and especially the Marin roads were the routes I was trying to describe earlier.
North of the GG Bridge is great natural beauty and fantastic winding ( but not to twisty for US cars :) ) roads. Do you have any of south and Half Moon Bay area. I enjoyed driving around there too.

Thanks guys.
Matra, both the Hwy 1 pics were taken south of SF. 1st one is about 10 miles north of San Luis Obispo, 2nd one about 5 miles south of Half Moon Bay. From SF to Monterey, it's a pretty mellow drive, some straights as long as 2 miles if not more.
North of SF is phenomenal. Snaky, and billiard-table smooth. There are dozens of one-lane, really hairy roads that branch off of Hwy 1 into the mountains, which branch into dozens if not hundreds of other twisties. Definitely Caterham heaven. Bit too dangerous to drive with one hand on the wheel (and the other working the camera. :) ).

Been there, done it, BUT the pics are on 35mm slides so I can't share them here (yet).
HIGHLY recommend anyone who goes to SF on business or vacation should take a weekend each to explore north and south of the city. As Guibo says, GREAT roads. Shame about the rental cars :)
Another favourite of mine is Washington State - maybe coz the mountains are very like Scotland in climate and beauty. Great roads and courteous truck drivers who would pull over if you'd followed them on the twisties ( I think it was law )

I took a sudden trip to Florida on Saturday to visit my ailing grandfather, drove down mostly at night so no good pics, but I drove back from Lakeland (near Tampa) to Raleigh yesterday, 655 miles in just under ten hours.
1) Junction of Interstates 4 and Interstate 95, near Daytona
2) I-95 northbound at LPGA Blvd, Daytona Beach
3 & 4) The city of my birth, Jacksonville, Florida, seen from I-95 northbound passing over the St. Johns River

1) I-95 northbound, crossing Lake Marion in Eastern Georgia.
2) View out the side of Lake Marion, looking east
3 & 4) I-95 Northbound, North Carolina, about 7 miles north of the North Carolina / South Carolina state line. The southbound lanes were completely shut down due to a bad wreck which I had just passed. This backup stretched for several miles.

Second that.

Well not the city :) but the roads over to the East of the state over the mountains. GREAT. Made me want to ride a bike ( but only H-Ds around so that was quickly ignored :) )
