Press Release

Caparo reveals new T1 Race Extreme

Caparo T1, the fastest performance supercar from Caparo Vehicle Technologies, is now available in its new Race Extreme version. The vehicle, aimed specifically at the high end of the track day market, boasts the car's utmost race specification and is set to deliver the ultimate driving experience.

Inspired in its design and performance by Formula One, the Caparo T1 has a distinctive pedigree which has once again been enhanced by the introduction of the new Race Extreme specification. The high end Race Extreme version of the car is now available with an evolved all aluminium, normally aspirated, fuel injected Caparo V8 engine which has been upgraded to deliver 620 bhp at 10,500 rpm. Some of the phenomenal key performance characteristics of the Caparo T1 Race Extreme are as follows:

0-62 mph - 2.8 sec
0-100 mph - 5.8 sec
Top speed - 208 mph
G loads braking - > 4 g
G loads cornering - > 3.5 g
Dry weight - 550 kgs

The specification also includes: fully adjustable suspension and aerodynamic packs, ultra light 6 pot front and 4 pot rear monoblock billet machined aluminium callipers complete with titanium pistons, and 355mm x 35mm ceramic discs and pads set up. In addition, the car's upgraded electronic package contains a fully tuneable ECU which ensures maximum performance from the engine and the six speed sequential gear box. The above features together with the fully adjustable traction control of the Caparo T1 Race Extreme combine to provide the absolute track experience.

Caparo T1 Climate option launched

Caparo T1, the ultimate supercar designed and manufactured Caparo Vehicle Technologies, is now available with a full climate pack. The option is being introduced as a result of customer demand and can be installed on all new orders as well as retrofitted on the existing Caparo T1 cars.

Following a highly successful launch in the UAE and increased customer demand, Caparo Vehicle Technologies have introduced a new optional extra for the Caparo T1. All current car specifications can now be built with a full climate pack which includes a plexiglass canopy and air conditioning. The canopy, made from a toughened acrylic used in armoured windshields and helicopters, slides forward over the nose of the vehicle, and this option costs Ģ21,760. In addition to the canopy configuration, an air conditioning unit can also be fitted with a cost of Ģ3,750. Both these extras, part of the Caparo T1 Climate, can also be retrofitted to existing cars.

The question could be why the first version? Why not go directly with this?

It's not like the first version was a luxurious comfy cruiser.

The press release does not clarify whether both models are available, ore the extreme version cancels the original

Most people would never be able to even tap into the full potential of the first around a race track, much less this one. Like rocke said... why?

Its like having a veyron... you can go 250mph!!! but you will never do it.

EDIT:

an air conditioning unit can also be fitted with a cost of Ģ3,750. lol

FINALLY! I'm so tired of that slow, heavy T1 dragging ass around town. With any luck MAYBE this one will be able to get out of it's own way.

Why is a good question. This sounds like a car that is really to extreme for any road. So now you are in real race car territory. Why bother killing your self in something like that when a use Indy Lite, or F3000 car can be had for far less. An Indy Lite or Infinity Pro Series car can do over 190 on some tracks.

1999 Swift 008.a Spec Sheet (http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/swift/1173893102/1173893102ss.htm)

Of course something like an IPS, Iny Lites or F3000 car deliver the sort of performance that was reserved for F1 and Indy not long ago. Any one of them would be the perfect car to kill an unkilled driver.

because the first wasn't working, so starting with this would have resulted in a total fail.

since there are the mods about the canopy and the A/C available for the normal model (and even those already sold), I would say both will exist.

I guess here is Caparo again trying to prove the can create whatever level of performance they want, at the first attempt. Probably this car is just a good ad campaign for the group and its know-how.
also, being such an high performance car, they are showcasing how "cheap" carbonfiber can be:o

I think that this is evident, since the company is part of an an engineering group (Caparo vehicle technologies). As you can see in the site below, the Caparo car is the cornerstone of the promotional mix

That's not a problem of starting with one version or the other, but rather of finishing develpment properly and letting journalists drive cars that spontaneously combust or stop in the midle of the test for no apparent reason.

it's pretty common.
I mean a brand new car not working during a test (Porsche Boxter, anyone?), not cooking the driver.:D

And they get to drive concept cars these days, too.

Anyways, they have to take the first step before they take off running. Back when they originally started the project they probably didnīt know they could make it better.

Thatīs why Ferrari did not come up with the Enzo in 1948.

Iīm just glad the Caparo project isnīt dead because that is a seriously cool car.
