Yes one or two of you know. But the rest of you - let's see!

it seems like a C-Type:confused:
edit: the grille is too oval. D Type, maybe?

the front fender is too flat.

I would stick with a C Type, with the D Type grille.

Yes, I'm stupid.
Your theory seems to be right, it seems to be a D Type grille and hood/bonnet stuck between C Type fenders and a C Type body.
The only thing that irks me is that the hood bulge seems much too far down the nose of the car.

I wouldn't wonder if it's not Jag at all.

Could be a Jag-powered special. None of the ones I've searched (Lister, Tojeiro, HWM and Cooper) seem to match this.

^ Yeah I thought through all those too, BUT I'm not convinced of the Jag heritage because of that bonnet line and the less pronounced wing depth. The rear wing bottom line is also confusing being reminiscent of the C-type and XKs for sure !

I was thinking Aston Martin DBR2/3 , but they had much more pronounced bonnet side vents than the simple louvres here.

So pretty much stumped --- unless as a replica it's not following the original too closely ?

It's the 1952 style C-Type with 'aero' bodywork that caused the cars to badly overheat and fade from the race. Apparently they feared Mercedes-Benz that much.

I think you're absolutely right. All the factory C-types at Le Mans that year were out VERY early in the race. Everything about that car is C-type except for that grille. It's either one of the 1952 cars or a kit car of some kind.

If you watch Le Mans Classic next year you'll hopefully see it racing. Yes, it is the only 1952 C type in the world. There were only three made and they only existed in public view for a month so I'm not surprised you had to cheat a bit to get the answer!
