Honda Accord #1

The eighth generation Honda Accord for Japanese and European markets is a mid-size sedan. It went on sale in mid-2008 for the 2009 model year. The Japanese-built Accord is also sold in Australia and New Zealand as the Accord Euro. It is also available in US and Canada as the second-generation Acura TSX. It is also available on the Mexican market. From late 2009, it is available as Honda Spirior in China. While not as large as the North American Accord, sold in Japan as the Honda Inspire, this generation Accord is not in compliance with Japanese Governments regulations concerning exterior dimensions, and is not classified as a compact sedan in Japan.

Honda revealed some detail shots and a teaser video of the European-spec Accord in January 2008, before debuting it at Geneva Motor Show in March. The new Accord comes in both sedan and wagon forms, offering a host of engine and transmission options. Available engines are the 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol engines, as well as the 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. All engines come with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the petrol engines get in addition to that a 5-speed automatic transmission. Dimensionally, the Accord has become longer, wider, and lower for a sleek, sporty look, along with sharper body lines and slightly redesigned headlights. Honda has built the Accord on its new ACE body structure, available with a host of new safety features.

In Australia, the Euro variant of this model won the prestigious Wheels Car of the Year award for 2008. It also won the South African CAR OF THE YEAR for 2009. For March 2012, Wheels magazine Australia compared 11 mid-sized sedans, and the Accord Euro won top position.

This new model competes with the likes of the Audi A4, Citroën C5, Ford Mondeo, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Mazda6, Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, Peugeot 508, Renault Laguna, Skoda Superb, Toyota Avensis, Toyota Camry/Aurion and the Volkswagen Passat as well as the top of the range Volkswagen Jetta in some markets. It is the second best seller in its class in Australia,Jan-September 2012,beaten only by the locally made Toyota Camry, and is exceptionally popular with mostly private buyers.

Seriously. So retarded, the power plenum.

On the good side though, it has been rumored that the same wagon will come to America, as the Accord Accord wagon, not the TSX wagon with possibly 4WD.

Think it looks great. Are Honda one of the only mass-manufacturers putting out consistently good looking cars of late?

You must not live in North America. :D

Acura makes some truly horrible grills.

Dear god, I just looked at the Acura website. How could any designer think that looks any good?

Not sure if this merits a new thread, but I do remember somewhere that each individual car ideally should get its own thread.

I don't have Acura's press site, so feel free to post Acura's version here too.

Such a handsome looking car, just about the only Honda I'm happy with right now.

Move to Matt's Hideout please!

Edit- I take that back- Acura has plenty of wallpaper sized TSX Wagons. Too many for me to dl right now though.

Acura TSX #18

The Modulo kit looks like a Mugen kit to me. The wheels are far too flashy.

Can someone also merge these threads?

Thanks.
