Zonda Cinque Roadster

The Pagani roadcar model range would not be complete without a Roadster version of the Zonda Cinque. As the name implies it is created in the Modenese Atelier in a limited production run of merely five exclusive pieces like its coupé sister.

All weight reduction measures adopted by Pagani to improve driving pleasure, performance and emission of the Zonda Cinque have found use in the Cinque Roadster as well. The Carbon-Titanium chassis has been redesigned for the compensation of a missing roof.

The Cinque experience is enhanced with the roof stored in the front bonnet, when the storm of air being fed to the 678hp Mercedes AMG V12 engine through the massive intake just inches over the passengers’ ears, accompanies the exhaust note of the bespoke Zonda Cinque Inconel and Titanium exhaust system.

Whether you opt for a relaxed country drive in Tuscany’s hills, visiting Florence and other centres of the Italian Renaissance, or a record hunt at the Nürburgring, this 1.3 milion Euro + taxes jewel will reward with every day drivability and ultimate performance thanks to the different drive modes of the sequential robostised gearbox and an adjustable suspension setup that feels at home as well at the racetrack as on bumpy roads.

The constant efforts of Horacio Pagani and his team shows once again how art and engineering can be combined in the Zonda Cinque Roadster.

expect even a Zonda PS Roadster to come out before the end of the year.
The C9 should debut at Geneva 2010 if not a bit earlier.

I'm wondering if the top still fit under the air scoop.

But wasn't the PS a one-off model for a costumer?

That scoop that goes over the place where the roof should've been is a bit weird.

The PS is a one-off. The 5 Cinques were ordered by a company called SPS Automotive Performance, in HK.

Yes, and I came to know there will be a Roadster too, don't know who ordered it though

AFAIK, SPS is a technical partner.
Perhaps they bought/ordered one of the Cinques, but surely not all of them.

Who cares how the roof works, when it looks as sexy as that it doesn't matter!

I see.

Is it just me or there's starting to be a bit of the special edition syndrome here too...?

What a sexy car.

Can't say it isn't.
At least in this case the cars are actually "special", with technical and aerodynamic differences, not just a fancy and chromed paint job (looking at you Veyron).
The point is there are still a lot of people asking for a Zonda, a lot more than the initial 25. So many that adding a few more cars different from the F won't hurt the exclusivity, their value, or the appeal of the brand.
I'm one of those who can't afford a Zonda, not even the C12. So all I have is curiosity and passion. Both of them require something new to get fed, and these special editions sometimes seem too little.
I'm fine with the Cinque being more than an extremer F, applying future C9's technical solution to the construction and design of the F, or the R actually using C9's components and being a completely new car regardless of the similar style.
Still, I want the C9, really. That car makes me so curious I was disappointed to see this Cinque Roadster, a car I'd kill twice whoever it takes to own one.

The point is the development of the C9 is freaking expensive, the car is going under the typical Mercedes-Benz's tour of tests since two years, and I just found a single image of two prototypes with an actual bodywork and not just a C12's body modified (NOTE: one of them being without the usual rear wing). The new factory won't be built and finished until 2012, works will start at the end of this year, and the first C9 will be built at the present location.

So all of this required bazilions of money, which pagani doesn't have.
This is just a smart and I'd add enthusiast-friendly way to keep the dreams alive.

Message to Pagani: regardless of my desire to see the new C9, if you are planning a barchetta (not a roadster) based on the R, I wouldn't complain at all, just saying :D.

I can't see having more Zondas an etirely bad thing.

Message to Pagani: If people are asking for Zondas, then do some more. :)

No, Pagani built these Cinques because SPS Automotive Performance requested them to. It's still fully built by Pagani, SPS isn't involved in the building, so they're not a technical partner.

From the official press release:

"After last year’s record braking lap at the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife, the
official Pagani representatives from Hong Kong made their special request for the
most radical road legal Zonda ever, the Zonda Cinque. Limited to just 5 (Cinque)
pieces the production is already sold out."

Yes, i was going to correct myself:
You are indeed right, SPS asked for a special series of the Zonda to be sold only trough them (it's not clear if only trough SPS in HK or also trough other SPS dealerhips).
The same goes for this, the Cinque Roadster, which at first was supposed to be a one-off, but turned out being a limited edition.
SPS itself isn't a technical partner but a commercial one. I think they were the first official Pagani's dealer, or something.

Carrugati from Switzerland is planning a similar operation too.

It's funny this. I'm from HK myself, and despite being a petrolhead, I've never heard of SPS Automotive Performance.

Here's the official site.

Excellent!
Now take a walk, go to SPS (can't be that far away, HK doesn't look like Siberia) and ask for a photoshoot with the Cinque ! :D

They are special editions like Veyron's or Mustang's.

Altough now Damiano will come and tell me that they are not like those at all because they have different mechanical parts... :p

And here I am!:)
Using a different gearbox, a different airscoop (in some cases), new rear diffuser, new materials for the chassis and who knows what else is quite different from using a chromed paint instead of say red or blue, or sticking some stickers on the bonnet and say "hey dawg, that's a new 'Stang for ya!".
Also, these cars are on requests of customers or partners, not an idea from the marketing office.

They were a little bit unaccommodating last time I visited. Unless you're a potential customer, they probably won't give you much attention. They have a reputation for taking care of celebrity customers though.

This bad girl has an unknown chassis as of now, and it's supposedly somewhere in France since August.

Recently another C.R. showed up at Forstner's in London, but I don't know which # it is.

#5/5 was only seen in at the factory, obviously, in Jeddah for a few days and then in London. last time it was spotted it was on a truck towards France.

So yes, all this shots were taken in London, mainly near The Dorchester hotel.
