The pre-war production of DeSoto halted in January 1942, and the model (Series 10) for that year was used as a basis for the 1946 models, that entered production in March 1946. During the war the factory was used to produce various airplane parts and anti-aircraft cannons.
The first models (Series 11) remained in production until the end of 1948, when the all new Series 13 model entered production in December 1948. This was called “the car designed with you in mind”. Available were the Deluxe series and the Custom Series. Both were fitted with a 236.7 cu in l-head six, producing 112 BHP. Almost 70% of total sales concerned Custom models. Shown here is a rare Custom Convertible Coupe, of which just under 3400 were made.

It was offered by Coys at their 2005 Interclassics auction in Maastricht.
