You'd have to be a complete fool to ever put your car in gear without wearing your seatbelt. Hell, I habitually put it on when just pulling my car out of the garage.

I just can't get into my car and not buckle up. My parents (unlike some back in the '70s and early '80s) always buckled up and buckled me up from as early on as I can remember. Driving without a seatbelt feels like driving naked. Which I don't habitually do either. :D

Airbags are a different story. I don't believe they are as effective as they have been made out to be, and they seem to hurt at least as many people as they help. Niether of my cars has even one, and I prefer it that way.

It looks to me like he was falling asleep and woke up to see whatever he was going towards.

Seatbelt all the way baby. There are times it does slip my mind, but I'm often like Matt and do it during small off road maneuvers out of habit.
