Well, the poll lists in general are supercar top heavy. Selection by fantasy? I know it's called "Ultimate Car Page", but with few exceptions there's no relevancy to the real-world marketplace. Maybe more of us should have payed some attention to the nominations, but probably wouldn't have changed anything to challenge the choices.

The other thing to be said is in general at UCP, people are fans of enthusiast cars. EVO choses their car of the year and it's always a sportscar, often a very expensive one.

UCP's bias is towards European sportscars and supercars in general.

Is that so bad? I guess it'd be nice to see some variety, and for some people to chose cars that aren't their favourite but in the end, meh.

csl you seem to have a big problem with this, but I don't. I want to see what my UCP peers vote as their favourite car, what's the problem with that?

What I would like to see is people posting in the threads telling us why they voted for the car they chose as opposed to any other - that is a constructive and interesting conversation that can be had.

Voted for a reasonably priced car.

I voted for the XJ. I voted for it because despite not being an especially reasonably priced car it is a return on form from Jaguar. It mates the already excellent X350 chasis with modern contemporary styling and a great interior. It also has modern, frugal and performing powerplants which are near the top of their respective classes.

As for supercar voting, I'm not against it per se. I think the 458 might be a worthy winner since it is a leap forward in many aspects, and in terms of decade voting so are the GT-R and the Veyron. But I'm definitely against voting a supercar because it is awesome, in my opinion it goes against the spirit of the awards. I think you shouldn't vote a car you like, I've personally voted for cars I don't like, but you should vote for a car you think it is a deserving winner regardless of wheter you'd have one or not.

I voted for the 458 as a compromise. I thought about the C3 but that goes against my principle of only voting for cars that are available here. I thought about the Genesis but in point of fact I don't even believe it's the best car in its segment, so I held of there, too. The XJ is a large expensive family ish car, which rules it out for me. I also considered the XF, but really it's the XF range that I would support, not just the XFR. Which left the 458.

GM sort of did it with the solstice. Certainly the cheapest RWD car in a while. It was just let down by the factory suspension. If SCCA is anything to go by the solstics's domination in several classes (to the point of numerous rule changes trying to limit it) should show it had potential.

Yeah, but now that Pontiac and Saturn are both gone, who's going to make the Solstice? They may bring it back as a Chevy, but still, there's no denying that for the time being it's dead.

And don't get me started on the G8.

458 and LFA were close at the start, but the 458 expanded it's lead and will go to the finals.
