Lots of new (well new to me) pics here:

New images sure, but its still the Italia's first year, so theirs no styling changes, so I don't see the relevance of new images. But those are still some cool pics.

Clarkson claims the Italia is the "First genuinely good looking car in 30 years." I have to agree to that.

Walking around it in person I can say its truly impressive, but I'm just not sure about the front. Everything is getting so big now too. I would have preferred them to stay at 355 dimensions, but that's not happening.

With the exception of the 599 GTB.

. . . and the 430 Scuderia.

. . . and the 355.

. . . and the 575 Marenllo.

. . . and the 456GT.

. . . and the Tesstarossa.

. . . and the 328 GTB.

. . . and the 288 GTO.

And the one-off 612 Kappa, P4/5 and 575 GTZ.

So yeah, with the exception of those eight production cars and those three custom cars it's the first . . .

Oh, and I like the 550 Barchetta. And the 348 was badly engineered, but it was actually good looking too. Okay, so with the exception of those eleven production cars and three one-offs . .

Well, I certainly don't think the 360 or 430 were bad looking in coupe form, do you?

So let's say this: With the notable exceptions of the Mondial, the 575 SuperAmerica and the 360/430 SPYDERS, it's just another amazing looking Ferrari in a history of amazing looking Ferraris going back to 1980. Are we agreed?

I'm sorry, but except for the 599, which is good looking but not GREAT looking, I really don't think those cars were good looking, IMO. The 430 16M was a good looking one though.

It's subjective.. I personally think that the 355, 512TR and F40 are wonderful looking, but each to they are own.

Clarkson loved the 8C, and I believe has had a lot of good things to say about many cars in the past 30 years.

He just shits out a load of crap from his mouth that makes whatever car he (or his writers) like at the moment seem utterly ridiculously amazing.

Those guys by contract have to argue with each other in order to get more viewers, and it works. Topgear is entertainment focussed, as opposed to information, which is why most of the crap that comes out of their mouths is extremely opinionated but ends up being funny at the same time in many cases.
Jeremy Clarkson's opinion has seldom been that of my own. While the 458 may look pretty damn insane, it is a far cry from the "first genuinely good looking car in thirty years." What a knob.

I absolutely loved the little skit he did on his impression of how (he thinks) a TT owner behaves. I imagine he'd probably feel pretty stupid after seeing me throw my snowboard on the roof of mine and head for the mountains. But who am I to say other TT owners don't stand in front of the mirror for 45 minutes debating with themselves what outfit to wear .

The only two really good looking Ferraris from the last 30 years are the 355 and the 456.

And from my persona perspective from the current range only the 599 Spider feels like it has the attitude of a proper Ferrari.

PS. Regarding TopGear, if you can get past the more in yer face entertainment and jokes, there's some real value when it comes to judging cars.

Ehhhhhhhhh... I'd throw in the 360.

OK looking would be the F40, Testarossa, 288 GTO, and 348.

If you included race cars, then the F2004.

I disagree. They can sometimes stumble on a reasonable point, but most times, it's just crap.

It's a blast to watch though - my family and I watch it most nights on TV together. Even my Mom likes it.

Really good looking, as in with the all-time greats.

Most of those are fine (altough I'm not really taken in by the 80ness of the Testarossa or the 348, and I like the 80's...), but not in that category.

As for F1 cars, beauty peaked with the Lancia D50.

The 360 looks like an utterly curious frog (in other words, it's not that good looking IMO).

I'd say that the Daytona was beautyful. I love long-bonnet-cars. And the 275 was quite good-looking, too.

have always been a massive fan of the 288, 348 and 355's. a black 355 spider is basiclly a dream car....I'd be interested to see what one would go for these days. I'd assume they'd be fairly exy still

import one from the states. They come significantly cheaper than this one too, except maybe not in your color of choice.

the cheapest one i could find thats aus compliance

alot of options for that sort of cash

also looking at the 360, it seems the 355's resale is stronger. For a 150K im not even going to contemplate the different options that would be available....

importing something less than 15 years old that was sold locally is difficult.
importing something that wasn't sold locally however.. ;)

Yea, you guys get screwed for prices. I saw that when I walked into the Lambo dealership and found out V12 LPs go for about $800,000. HAH!!! Even Lotus Evora costs around $175,000 over there, when they're nearly $100K cheaper than that here. I don't understand where all the extra expense goes, taxes? That'd be a lot of f'ing taxes :p.

so just because you guys had F355s new on your soil, the government rapes you for trying to bring one in from Japan? Whereas if you imported something that wasn't sold new in Aus, they'd be more lenient? That sounds awfully strange:confused:. Sounds like The Man really doesn't want anyone saving a couple bucks.

not really. if you import something that was never sold here, noone loses. if you import something that was sold here, dealerships etc lose out.

Only problem is, most of everything IS sold there. So there's not really much you can do about anything. That's unfortunate as hell considering with your prices you could be saving over $100K. I seriously hope Canada/US importing doesn't get axed. The deals are sweeter than honey, and I think I might cry like a little girl if the government suddenly decides they've had enough.

Both my Jeep and my dad's truck came from Canadia. Though we immediatly took them to a bar and strip club to wash some of the Canadianess off.

Are you a communist?

Seriously though, what'd you have to do to get it DoT approved? Did you have to change the speedo, or are your big numbers km/h? I'd be so happy if the big numbers are km/h for you.

Why the hell did you get a Canadian one?

then there's no problem finding one second hand, with traceable history and log books..
and stuff over 15 years old, is open season.
not forgetting if you just want track use/club rego you can bring it across anyway.
importing is cheap as hell, but it doesn't solve everything.

We have people that speak as absurdly as that here in Canada - they are from Newfoundland.

I know 5 Newfoundlanders, and so I can sorta understand some slang.

I would have very little hope of understanding the older generation there, or a bunch of them at a bar, which is somewhat surprising, as I can understand Scottish!

well yea I wasn't saying you'd have a problem finding one, just implying that it would be worth it to shop elsewhere given your prices. The biggest reason anyone imports anything is to save money, otherwise there isn't much in it.

edit: Cam that sh!t gave me the goosebumps ^^. I've done a lot of work in northern BC and Alberta with Newfies. Great people, but their accents drive me nuts.

No, I'm just taking advantage of ignorant communists. Kid up in Canada bought the Jeep (with snowplow attachment) added a nice lift kit, wheels and tires (also a winch which kept you from being able to attach the snowplow  ) etc. and then ran out of money and had to sell it for cheap. Waay less than he had put into it, or what it would cost us to get similar, so we grabbed it. Grabbed a US speedo, ripped one of the underhood stickers off (gray market trick to avoid some hassles) and ta da! Similar deal with my dad's truck, although that didn't have any aftermarket stuff on it.

We're not really that far from the border and some of the dealers here will do that if they find a good deal.

One of my friends (my buddy's Newfoundlander cousin) works in the tar sands. He drives the machines. To say that he makes a good living would be a massive, massive understatement. You can make over 100 grand there if you work the hoursy and 200K+ is quite attainable - for driving truck, shovel, and grader.

You should probably just move north across that border and live here then.

Things are better. BC is fabulous I hear (ask Rob).

Southerners are no where near the plane of Newfoundlanders in terms of incomprehensibility.

Oh I'm quite familiar with the money :). Its the only reason anyone goes there, because its not exactly a "nice" area where you'd want to raise your kids. The big money is definitely in the hours. I used to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, for as long as 8 weeks in a row. Depending on what sort of work you're doing you'd typically do rotations, but some business like pipeline companies that are on a super tight schedule will have their guys working every single day. I started out doing the pipeline, and we had one day break in a 2 month period because the temperature sunk to -56 incl. wind chill, and the bosses didn't want to expose the machinery to that. When I focussed more on plumbing, the work became a little more humane, but since its still up north you're still living in camps away from home most of the time.
