The picture you've attached is too big.

The picture you've attached is too big.

Checking the EXIF it is 800x778 (an odd kind of crop) and smaller than 1MB.

Well, it never occured to me to crop at exactly 800X800 so getting within the size limit was a lucky accident. ;)

There was a fair amount of bright pavement from the flash in the foreground. :o

All stuff easily fixed.
First get rid of some of that superfluous sky, by cropping to 514x778. It is a shot of the car not the sky.
Then a few tweeks to the shadows and highlights, and there it is.
See what you think

However I agree. it is tough to get a decent exposure in bad light with a small sensor camera.

Actually I prefer it with all the sky there.

my thoughts as well, makes it more standing out from what everybody would do....(not meant to dismiss Leonard's attempt though).

Thanks SD, but actually I wanted all the sky and resisted brightening the car because I like the low contrast of gloaming.
It's not so much a photo of the car as the place, time and scene.

Nothing wrong with that. However, in that case I would have left the sky as is, and expanded the selection to the left and right, leaving the Carrera a fair bit smaller in the foreground. Ending up with a wider, less cramped aspect ratio. Then resize for posting. That way the car will appear to be a less significant, incidental item in a sky-scape.
In the two shots I have attached for demonstration purposes, the vehicles are less important than the scenery.

Understood, and good examples SD... but I framed the car as shown setting the lens a bit long since any closer the flash was too much, and cropped entirely from the bottom. With light fading fast I took 6 photos, this was the only usable one. The sky looks fabulous in the others but the car all but disappeared... as it got darker I kept trying the flash but resulted in what you'd expect, flare on all the shiny bits.
Didn't mean to go OT; this discussion should really be on the other thread. :)

We should have a special side-competition where everyone alters cls177's photo; best variation wins! :p.

Only then will we truly know.
