So much anticipation, and it looks like a fish. I still can't believe Pagani designed this.

What does Huayra mean?

pimento

Apparently it means wind in the indigenous language of Quechua spoken in the Andes region of South America.

See also Zonda Wind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zonda_wind)

So what is happening to the Pagani C9, Oh no i have just read the C9 is to be called the Pagani Huayra, What a stupid name why can't it just be called the C9. Don't mind the look of the back, but i hate the look of the Front and i hate those gullwing doors they just adds Weight. NO NO NO this is so bad Pagani what have you done.

I somehow like it, the mirrors could definitely be replaced but overall i don't think it's that bad. The front view does look like a catfish lookin to swallow a stinky piece of liver but all the other angles look pretty sharp. I especially like how they used those swooped rims to go along with the overall roundness of the design

What. The. ****. This tops the FF for sheer ugliness. That is hideous. Everything that the Zonda represented is now GONE. I'd rather Pagani died than make something that hideous.

It looks like they attached the zonda to a bicycle pump and inflated it a couple hundred PSIs. Like mclaren said, it resembles a fish.

Yes. Plus 1970s sidepipes are win... in seriousness though the proportions aren't far from Pagani, either. As to this new thing... meh.

Ugly mutated catfish thingy... I am super shocked right now.

I'm sure it's really fast and all, but why is the front end that ugly? The rear is still beautiful in my eyes, but the front end design has to go

Eh, not the greatest but could be worse. Still as long as it's still fast and still sounds like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=3CRV6xDpkZo#t=120s) who cares.

This is true. You can never trust the renderings that turn up in magazines. Most of the time they're done by an artist with no affiliation with the actual company, artists whose job it is to "project" what new cars might look like. So I wouldn't give up all hope just yet.

I really don't like it. It looks snubbed, fat, and it lacks the sharp angles that make the Zonda so beautiful. Not to mention the nose. That being said, I didn't like the Zonda at first either.

Those little wings look almost set to different pitches, as if they're linked to the steering... that could be interesting.

Again we see that magazine scans bring out the worst in a car - the rear shot with the winglets looks much nicer than on the first page. Still looks a bit blobby though, the glamour shots should be interesting.

It's not as sleek as the Zonda, but I like it. If it has a manual and a normally aspirated AMG engine I want one.

EDIT Read the link. Twin turbo and automatic. No want for me.

If Porsche bottles out with the 918 thing, the manual supercar will be gone forever.

If it doesn't though, it would be ironic that the last "major" car maker with a manual supercar would be german...

Kitdy
01-26-2011, 12:46 AM
A supercar is meant to represent the pinnacle of road car performance.

At this point, a manual gearbox decreases performance. I think it makes a degree of sense for them not to have a manual. It is cool that some manufacturers still rocked manual supercars recently though.

EDIT: What I liked about the Zonda was that it had a big NA V12 and a manual gearbox. I did not like the look of it. This does not have a NA V12 or manual gearbox, and looks terrible.

So if supercars can't have a manual because it's too slow and grand tourers can't have a manual because it's too difficult, what's the manual there for?

Sports cars, I guess.

Bang on. Low and mid market sports cars specifically; the Genesis, the Mustang, the Corvette. This is where manuals should most often be applied.

EDIT: About this car, I am curious as to how much boost it is running.

I think video footage gives it more justice than still photos.

Check this out (also includes engine sound ;)):

Don't like the sat-nav though. Looks like a cheap chinese tablet IMO.
Also check out the front 'fins' in action at around 0:48.

Syncros add unnecesary weight as well. And what about brakes? Not only add weight, but they slow you down as well.

lol, hand cranking is for the real men's man...

I am with Kitdy, up to some point the stuff laden with the cars at that level using the manual will just be holding the cars back....You can't really "drive" the modern supercars in the same sense as older cars anymore. Sure you can turn traction control off, but in many cases you still have electronic diff, adaptive aero bits, adaptive damping, crazy AWD or whatnot...

At any rate, this new Pagani looks funny on the front. The rear seems quite nice actually. The photos don't help neither as they used that low-level shot and just make not nose looks so much thicker with plenty of daylight underneath the car. Might not looks that horrible in person, but I've never seen the Zonda in person so I can't compare in that respect....

This car is perfection and I love it. I think this car makes the Bugatti Veyron look boring. Take the gearbox for example, Horacio Pagani could have used a normal seven-speed paddleshift gearbox. But no, instead he use a unit from one of the best race suppliers, Xtrac. The same people which did the box for the Zonda R. Horacio Pagani doesn’t use the cheap option to make the most money, I mean the gearbox cost as much as a decent V8. Then take the exhausts, typical Pagani obsession for the best materials regardless of cost, their made of titanium for lightness. And the list goes on, every part on this car is made from the best material possible. What a great car and what a great car designer Horacio Pagani is, in my opinion one of the best car designers in the would.
