So I found these two cars on the web. I want an old Ford Escort as their still RWD.

But I don't know if they would be worth it. I mean they are being sold for a reason.

1300 Ford Escort (http://capetown.gumtree.co.za/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-R35K-ford-escort-W0QQAdIdZ260089250)

1600 Sport 1986 model. (http://capetown.gumtree.co.za/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-R35K-Ford-escort-1600sport-9000neg-W0QQAdIdZ260445325)

I will probably buy a Motorbike to drive during the week and then I'll drive the car on weekends. (Not sure though.)

If It were my money, I'd buy the motorbike. But drive the car on the week and the bike on the weekend.

Ignore second as FWD :)

Mk2 4 door looks quite tidy .... BUT watch the rear wheel arch inners and the front inside arch top mounts for rust. Prices seem a bit high, but difficult to compare internationally.

All depends on what you want out of a car. I'd say spending more on a better bike might be more sensible :)

Thanks for the fast reply :D

Yeah I really wanted a nice bike, but I need a car because there are times I will need to transport people and stuff. For example if I wanna go LAN I would need a car. That being said I could put off the car for a while. I really don't like buying second hand cheap cars.

If I do buy a car I'll take a mechanic with me.

I know nothing about either of these cars but I agree...when in doubt, go RWD.

i really like the 1300, very stylish, is prolly fairly quick and looks like a ton of fun to drive. When i saw the side view of it i said oooo haha, those vintage looking racing rims really set it off

Indeed go Mk2. Way to learn rear wheel drive dynamics at safe(ish) speeds.

Well i think you can go for 1300 Ford Escort because that is has a fantastic features going for a sports model is of no use because i don't think so you are a sporty man ,if you go for Ford that will help you as well has your family and did you find out about the conditions of the ford first check that and check its miles very important if everything is fine along with the price quoted then i think there will be no harm in buying it .

I agree with Ferrer and Matra. I would stick to RWD as well.

Go for RWD, then you can have some fun even if the Escort isn't the fastest.
