I got this idea after reading some comments on a height website...

If you are a man (and most members here are), which would you choose...

A. 5'1" tall (155 cm) and have $500,000 in the bank

or

B. 6'1" tall (185 cm) and have $10,000 in the bank.

I don't blame you; money does come in handy (especially when buying cars).
But you would really shrink by 1 foot and 4 inches to have $500,000?

I'm 6'1" and have less than $10k in the bank so yeah, I'll keep my height and take a bit more cash.

I'm 5'9, which means I'm at the point in between tall/short, so I'd prefer the four extra inches. Plus, $10Ks could still cover a nice down payment for the upcoming Scion/Toyo-baru FT-86-whatever-they're-calling-it or a used turbo Legacy.

Being 5'1 would make me shorter than the kind of chicks I'm into, so no amount of money could make it better. Unless it went towards height surgery or platform shoes.

Being 5'7 (which isn't tall obviously, but isn't exactly short either), I would most definitely take the extra 6 inches.

$500k is a lot, but IMO I feel like I'd be able to make far more (say over the course of a few years) given the extra 6 inches. ;)

Was this (http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1913256,00.html) the article?

I wouldn't mind being a bit shorter than 180cm - sometimes people give you funny looks when you're noticably taller than your husband.

Can I have the money now please?

Nothing wrong with being short in my opinion... so I'll be short and have more money.

I'm 6'2" and though doing fine, an extra $500K wouldn't hurt... and if a foot shorter wouldn't sweat it.

No, that was not the article but it is interesting to read. It was something I read on celebheights.com.

so this question can be read as:

would I choose a woman of 155 cm or one of 185 cm with less money in the bank? I think the answer is not too difficult. I am 5.9/176.

Isn't it usually the woman who chooses?
After all, it's the men who propose, not the other way around.

I wouldn't fit in my Ginetta (or most other race cars) if I was either 5'1" or 6'1". Life's hardly worth living if I can't race, so I'll take neither ;)

I wouldn't mind having a bit more cash. 1.85 and 10k is better than 1.89 and 2k :D.

Yeah but all the fast bike-engined sprint/hillclimb cars are being driven by small guys. You wont fit a 6'1" into ANY of the new generation of very fast lightweight race cars and still be competitive :(
You can easily change seats and add padding if small but cutting your feet off if too tall wont work :)

At 5'9" I sometimes feel a little small for my bike already.. but with 500K I could have a pretty wicked custom made, so.. yea. That.

Very true. Though at least we don't want to be jockeys!

I'm 5'9", but I have a smaller rear than most. Late last year I did an arrive-and-drive session at Lydden Hill and took most of the skin off of my tailbone due to the seat being made for those with a larger rear.

I now never leave the house without my own seat, or a box full of duct tape and foam.
