I thought it would be interesting to find out what people on UCP do for a living. How many of us actually work with cars, i don't and a lot of others don't.

I'll start with myself.

I'm in my first year of collage studying Agriculture, i am all still at school as a year 12 half the time, i also work on a farm two days a week. (Work experience, unpaid ) I have been offered a job at the farm i work at so next year i should be earning money, and then i can drive.

So, what do you do for a living?

Print and promotional marketing sales rep. They call it an “Account manager” these days.
Can’t say my “career” has been smooth sailing but survived several promotions and redundancies to be back around where I was 20 years ago. At the moment with a decent company and a good boss and actually not hating the idea of coming to work on a Monday. I guess that’s as good as it has ever been.
I strongly believe you have to do all you can to make your own opportunities but despite that, employment, much like life in general, is a lot about good timing and good luck. Being in the right place at the right time and having the good sense to take advantage of opportunities. Then hoping others don’t step in and f#@k it up for you.

I was in RI for the last year. I am currently trekking across country to go to a quick school in San Diego before I head off to Japan for a few years.

And Cameron, I get all of the feature updates in my RSS reader, and the Morgan drive prompted me to come back. And whenever I open up the page, I read through the recent posts. But I only occasionally comment.

No, it isn't that good. You guys probably earn more in a week that i in a month.

I would obviously enjoy building my own cars in a little factory. But that will remain a dream.

What the best car you've driven because of your work.

Over short distances usually, to the car wash and back...11 miles round-trip. And thank you, I have pretty much ignored the computer for a long time!

What the best car you've driven because of your work.

I went into some of this in the "I just drove a..." thread, but highlights include V6 Mustangs, Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti m35, Cadillac CTS, Lincoln Town Car, Fiat 500, Prius, Altima hybrid, Ford Fiesta, Smart fortwo, Chevy Cruze, Tahoes, Suburbans, etc. Most of our fleet is Nissans and Toyotas, not much special there.

^^^ That not bad, at least you get to drive lot of diffrent cars.

jcp123

Yup it's definitely the best perk. Being a small location though, we basically never get vehicles like those. Makes it a double treat when we do. Right now I have two Altimas, a Camry, three Nissan Versas, a Chevy Aveo (bleagh), a Chevy Traverse, Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape, Chevy Malibu, and a Toyota Sienna, which is pretty much what we normally have.

EDIT: Also just got one of the 2012 Chevy Impalas in...they now have GM's 3,6l DOHC standard. It's got a lot of spunk, unfortunately I looked like an idiot when I buried the go-pedal because I wasn't ready for the hefty torque steer.
