Fiat Spider Millenia Pininfarina shown 2012

I have found this very beautiful
style study by Pininfarina.

What a beauty....
I would add recessed windscreen wipers under the hood edge
and a nice little double hump on the hood like the 124 Spider BS1 1971.
The basis could be the newest Alfa Spider.

I would even take a JTD 5 cyl (Alfa) turbo diesel ... why not?

Course, would be a dream a la Busso V6 2.5 or 3.0 =
160-180 hp should be enough!
- sadly Busso V6 is no longer manufactured so;-)

But please no Opel and Holden GM Daewoo Chrysler "murmur and stumble" mummy-Engine!
(then already rather something very modern a la Opel Ampera or
Tesla Spider solely on the battery drive... the engine noise could be produced synthetically, then yes ...

Although that would not be my favorite idea
- I just love real Italo engines! -

but possible would be something under the guise of Ecology & Fun Roadster
with EU funding of a young Italian development team rather ...)

It would form a new Image of Fiat (together with the actual quite nice Fiat 500 Abarth)

Unfortunately we will have to live with low identity garbage from Turin
because something this beautiful as the new Fiat Spider Millenia unfortunately
will never be affordable to be realized as all "normal price cars" now must look
vulgar (see the new VW Scirocco = its just a squashed Golf )
= so that they are affordable to produce "for free" and Fiat,
almost bankrupt, can only sell polish made el Cheapo Stuff and Chrysler
Mummies | Sorry!

Best regards

Lots of things... let's go step by step.

First, this is just a photoshop on the Alfa Duettottanta concept car by Pininfarina.

Second, the five cylinder diesel engine has been discontinued by Fiat. It has been replaced by the high output versions 2 litre four cylinder diesel, itself an evolution of the old 1.9 litre unit.

Third, GM-Fiat agreement was terminated in 2005, and the only joint/transfer technology that remains are the Corsa/Punto and the FPT diesel engines in Opels. It would also be quite silly to use GM technology now that Fiat owns Chrysler.

And last but not least, the Abarth 500 is one of the worse cars currently on sale in Europe.

I read a rumor that fiat was building a new spider through a chassis sharing program with Mazda and the new Miata. Any truth to this?

LOVE it! Clean and cool styling. Easily one of the best looks I have seen in a long, long time.

Missing this kind of styling on most modern cars...
Well I like the 500.

Yes, it's the new Alfa Romeo Spider. But it won't be on the showrooms until 2015.
