As the thread already conceals, my father and two uncles owned a transport company quite a while ago in Heinenoord, the Netherlands. At a certain point there were 30-40 vehicles in the company, mostly Scania's and DAF's.

Later on, my father and uncle concentrated on driving, while the other uncle did the planning. Years later the company was lost unfortunately, but continued in a more modest form. The company name has been changed, but it still exists as per today.

I grew up between these trucks as a little boy and this certainly has helped to develop my general interest in cars and trucks. My father is still a truck driver today.

Lately I got hold of these pictures and thought I would share them with you!

I can spot at least two Pegasos! :)

Interesting to see the non-cabover style trucks- it's definitely not the norm.

Cool to see these photos- I realized that service vehicles get the least credit- sometimes you get attached to them- like busses.

Worse off, they rarely ever get preserved. Try finding one of these trucks now and it'd be really hard.

Case in point- the Ford Crown Victoria. I think I'll miss it when I see the last taxi and police cruiser go.

The Dodge Charger is cool, and so is the new Taurus. But it was so easy to spot a police car when it was a Crown Victoria. :D

@ NSX Type-R : The cabover style is the norm in Europe, although I like the torpedo style big rigs more like you have in the US. The Scania in post #4 was an exception, as you can see it was restored from a very bad state. This vehicle is still active at another company.

@ Ferrer : Indeed two Pegaso's yes, the one in post #2 looks new. I also found an occassional Mercedes and of course the MAN Diesels.

@ Henk4 : My uncle and his son still run a small truck company (2 trucks I believe) now under a different name indeed.

What I really liked about these pictures, apart from my childhood memories, is the diversity in trucks, locations and different sorts of material handled (containers, construction materials, cranes) ... Really happy with these old pictures :)
