Why should there be?

500 horsepower is 500 horsepower.

Specially tuned stock Vipers can go over 1000 hp.
I forget the name of the company that does it, starts with an H though.

like: heffner, hennessey, Super Viper Systems Inc, Axis and - Doug Levin Motorsports.
but if there was a - v12 viper they could even produce more than the maximum hp that is now 1175 hp.
I mean with the companies that i'v mentioned before.

I added a picture of the 1175 Doug Levin Stage IV Viper.

Would you please, for your own good, stop reviving old threads to say the same thing over and over again. The Corvette is a good car, we all know it, we don't need you reviving every single Corvette thread on the forum to say "Corvettes are the best".

More cylinders isnt always better, and the corvette vs viper comparison is a fine example. 8 vs 10 and the vette is better if you havent gotten my drift =)

Maximum horse on what exactly? Stock CI? 522 stroker? nope for either. Theres 1500RWHP vipers out there.

yah # of cylinders isn't always the ticket. they have a big displacement v10 which gets the job done, no need for a v12. also due to the 2 extra cylinders it would be more expensive to produce. furthermore dodge already has a v10 from their pickups, the viper pretty much just used that motor as the base so it makes lots of sense from a production standpoint.

v12's are cool motors, especially for bragging rights but lets not forget there are some great v10's and v8s which are just as good. aka m5, ferarri f40, vette, ect...

My friend is on about a 1500+bhp Viper with a "Twin-Turbo Dodge D9 engine", does it exist?

Yeah, the corvette is undeniably better, but theres something so mad bout the viper (maybe coz it was made in a barn!) that it has character, not just another american muscle car

btw it aint a viper without the twin stripes!

Please, for the love of god, forget everything that you've ever heard Clarkson say, you will live a better life.

Corvettes and Vipers?

I wouldn't so much say the cars, but more what one is looking for in the car. They not only stand for different things, but also have very different offerings.

I think dodge have got it good..... And they should keep it that way.... all everyone seems to worry about is who has the biggest engine! You have to remember at one stage Williams had a 1.5L V6 pumping 1000Hp... small engine....some would have asked why not a bank next to that (W12) but well I think the answer to that is self explanatory

I agree with the majority.......500Hp in a car the size of a shoe is enough and more cylinders would probably be pointless

Personally I'd rather have a V10 + the stock 500HP without much strain on the engine, then a V6 with (probably) 8 turbos and so much forced injection that it will break after one good drive to the grocery store ;)

Anyways, on the subject of Corvette VS Viper: even if the corvette is better, it'll still never be a -> Viper <-
