One year after the presentation of the Alpine Vision show car, (http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48578&highlight=Alpine) Alpine revealed today at the Geneva Motor Show its production car: the new A110.

Combining the timeless Alpine principles of light weight, agility and performance, this mid-engined two-seater sports coupe is true to the spirit of its predecessors and in particular the A110 'Berlinette'. The new car will be built in the Alpine factory in Dieppe and deliveries will start late 2017 in Continental Europe. Deliveries in the UK and Japan will start in 2018.

Alpine is back to claim its position in the sports car segment, with only one promise: driving pleasure.

The A110's aluminium platform and body are bonded, riveted and welded to provide an exceptionally rigid yet light structure.

The A110 is ultra-light at only 1080kg kerb weight (excluding options). Its compact size (4178mm long, 1798mm wide and 1252mm high), optimal weight distribution (44% front/ 56% rear) and low centre of gravity are all dedicated to agility - especially on the type of winding mountain road that made Alpine's reputation back in the 1960s and '70s.

I wonder if, in 4 years time, this will make for a good daily driver...

You know, I'm far more interested in cars like this than hypercars like McLarens and Lamborghinis. As a child everything seems attainable, but it's not really practical to think that way as an adult.

At least you don't have to wait 25 years to import the car.

Yes, I guess it is also quite good on fuel, not a nightmare to maintain and as an added bonus something you can actually use an even enjoy.

As the driver of 340bhp car who thinks that it has all the performance you could actually want... and them some, I wonder what would you possibly do with 600+ bhp car.

I like that it's a complete car; the Alfa 4C has some really half-assed bits to it. Still, I'm not sure which I prefer. I like them both.

I prefer the Alpine because as you say it was put into production after being finished, not before like the Alfa. It is also, quite probably, much more liveable than the manic Italian.

It is impossible to not love the 4C, though. It was probably the first proper production Alfa in ages.
