2001 Lamborghini 6.0 V-12

I recently noticed on a picture of the 2001 Lambo V-12 that it has printed on it the firing order for the cylinders. The order is 1-7-4-10-2-8-6-12-3-9-5-11.
Is there a pattern to the numbers or did some guy at lamborghini randomly come up with this. Also why don't you want to fire them in order. Does lamborghini's firing order imprve the performance of the engine, how?
