Okay, so you are Europe's most respected assasin and the person who has hired you wants to buy you any get-away car you want to help you on your mission. What car would you choose?

Id take the bus...they would suspect that.

gibbs aquada. think of the advantage you would have.

Gibbs Aquada is a good idea, but im pretty sure its not very fast on land. I think a Renault Espace F1 would be pretty sweet for a get away car. I think i would take off the spoiler and paint it white, make it look like a normal van.

chrysler ME 4-12 :p i would be doing 250mph before the police man dropped his bagel :p :)

The Renault F1 van is a nice choice the problem is stability if need to grab a really hard turn you would crash id choose a S 55 AMG MB with a even more tuned- up motor and a Koni suspension that way you have a very stable car and the cops wouldn't catch and I would agree with the color definetly WHITE!

Depends where the job was that I had to get away from.

If it were a job in Essex, I'd go for a Ford Escort XR3 Cabrio, cos then I'd blend in with 50% of the locals :).

If I were in Sussex I'd go for a New Mini, see above.

Anywhere north of here I'd go for an Escort van. Pretty much as anonymous as you could wish for.

Around Leicester I'd go for either a Ford Focus or an old 3 series BMW.

Gotta think local :).

definitely a Hummer H2!! That mighty V8 kickin out 325 bhp!! I would have a performance upgrade to 550hp to be extra fast :D you could crush anything that got in your way! (exept maybe a tank) I was gona say an evo, but i thought i would have a change
I would have a pearlescent blue-red paint job, 23 inch rims, completely blacked out windows, pearl-white headlights and red neons. mmmmm...
Maybe an auto-lock missile launcher to be cocky :p

One second thoughts, i think i would rather take the Alpina B7. With a 500 bhp V8, its hardly something the police could catch up with. 0-60 in 5.40 s !?!? thats crime scene-to-getaway in 5.4 seconds. And speed onto the motorway cruising comfortably at 186 mph. In white preferably. Either that or a Jag E-type, maybe the old-type Honda NSX. But an almost perfect getaway car is the 1960's Ford Mustang...sweet.

Only a few of you are thinking covert. You want a car that'll get away unnoticed. But at the same time, in case they do find your ass, has some muscle to pull away. That's why I'd take a silver BMW M5. Yeah, it is a little flashy, but there are a lot of 5 series out there. And silver is about as bland as they come. And, with an M5, I could get all the girls a man of my caliber deserves.

I think this would make an ideal getaway car. Tons of power and even some factory stock N20 incase you need it.

I agree it's important that it's a common car, but with lots of power. Maybe a camaro. They're common with some power, you could put a bunch of money into it to make it a beastie. Mainly, you'd never expect me to be caught dead in one :P

for me it'd depend on what kind of job it was.AND.wether or not i was very good. for example if was some idiot that an ordinary civilian could bust then i would have something with a helova lot of speed but if i was a real high tech guy then something really ordinary on the outside with an engine that was modded so bad you could lift of the ground and fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!ok mabye thats just being stupid.

hmmm, i'd take a ducatti bike. ya, not a car, and a lil flashy, but that bike will sure outrun the cops, unless i'm in italy and that cop lambo is on the road

if i the job were somewhere open, a suzuki hayabusa, 312 kmh top speed!

close and little streets, like paris in the movies, the subaru 22b. small, FAST and a definate awe to it. flaired guards, 2.2 boxer engine , with the classic subaru burble. a possible +1 to anyone who can tell me HOW they make that sounds, and dont say because of the engine, its not. ( I know how, im just testing you guys)

drakkie
06-21-2004, 12:44 AM
i think I'd take that audi TT biMotor they once had on topgear.Fast and it looks like a normal road version.Maybe some Koni- springs(can get them for free, so why not ......).I dunno whether these engines have turbo's but else i'd take one of those too.

Spastik_Roach
06-21-2004, 02:47 AM
I believe the Subaru "burble" as you put it, is caused by the engine being a boxer, sorry i'm no expert on Subaru engines...

But for me, the ultimate getaway car would be a black Dodge Charger. Mean. Aggresive. Black. Evil. Something just like this one, i'd leave teh petty cops with a cloud of smoke, and the smell of burnt rubber all over their donuts..

Oh BTW does anyone know where the hell the lights are on a Charger?

http://richarda.addr.com/site/cars/1968charger/charger2.jpg

Forget being unoticable, i'd wanna recreate a 70's cop chase movie, with 1970's Crown Viccys chasing me, being run off the road, and bursting into flames.. Stop for a quick quarter mile against a 'stang, then i'm off again, charging into the desert...

But i'm talking America here.

If I was in Italy and I was escaping from Mafia fullas i'd get a turbo charged Fiat Seicento Sporting, or a Bambina :D

Behind the grille which opens when they're turned on.
Look at the grille edge where lights would normally be and you can see the lines where the opening is.

Too young to know the best way to escape a robbery in Italy is with a MINI - real one, not the poor remake :)

i would choose the bowler or a mini (old one) with a 1400CC superbike engine and turbo'd, this way i would be able to make a mean RWD mini :D:D:)

does anyone know if it is possible to put a 3.0L engine in a fiat 500 ? :D :D

Now, you see that just misses the point :)
You'd lose the Mini's scrub handling and ease of doing u and j turns
and see my feedback on the Exige as an option too !!!

ANything's possible - seen the V8 Minis ? As well as engine in the rear of a pickup there is a clubman with it all upfront !!!
Sensible - well, you know my view by now :)

Either the Lotus Exige, Lancer Evolution MR, or BMW M5.
Exige ??
I can just see the police report now.

"At 10:42 am. we first identified the villain whilst he was trying to enter his getaway vehicle. We observed Mr KnifeEdge for 30 seconds trying to get his legs in first whilst holding his large bag of swag. He then proceeded to put it on the ground while he got himself into the car. We then observed the accused try to lift the bag of swag and bring it into the car. The door opening being insufficient to the task, the criminal then climbed back OUT of the car and attempted to put the bag in first. After failing to get it past the steering wheel, he then proceeded to the other side of the vehicle and squeezed the bag into the passenger seat. On returning to the drivers side and watching the thief take an eterniy to clamber in to the drivers seat - this time getting his right leg stuck outside the vehicle - we decided we were in danger of wetting ourselves at his attempt to get away and arrested the accused, m'lud. At 10:58 am !!"

Lancer Evo VIII or Subaru STi...for sure we're going to go over little 'bumps' and things during the chase, right? A turbo with 4WD would be nice :D

That particular V8 is the V8 from a GT40, or so I'm led to believe.

Like you said, kinda defeats the object totally, but even so, must be scarily fast in a straight line.

Back to the topic, I reckon a Nissan Pulsar would serve you nicely for the job. As long as there's only 2 of you and you don't got too much to carry. :D

Just whip all the body kit, spoiler and vents off, so it just looks like a normal Sunny.

Nobody would suspect you of being up to no good in a Sunny, then when all hell breaks loose, your little japmobile was so anonymous looking, nobody will remember what it was!

For a finishing touch, a swivelly, James Bondy, Transportery number plate is essential too.

I've changed my mind, the lancer evo is a good idea. 4 doors for your full bank crew, and they're great machines as well. Plus, they're not a car that everyone would notice driving around like a Mclaren or something.

.its mean looking, and I tend to suspect the engine its mean sounding, too.

06-24-2004, 04:29 PM
the subaru "burble" is due to the inequal length of the turbo manifold pipes leading into the turbo/collector creating the sound of a slightly off firing order. some ppl like this sound but i find it unapealing, the manifold would be the first thing to go... along with the turbo for a bigger unit ;)

p.s. keep your +1

I'm 5'10 1/2" -- it isn't with the Exige or the hood up on the Elise.
That is a BIG outer chassis box you need to climb over.
The Ford GT had the sense ( and heritage ) to open the roof to make it easier !!
Best way I've found to get in and out is to just stand on the seat then slide up/down. Ok for trackday warriors, gotta be a bummer on a wet day in the suit on the way to a board meeting. Muddy footrpints on your rear don't make for a good image :)

Most of these cars are very expensive.

If you can afford a flash car, why are you robbing banks?

Or is the presumption that you are stealing the get away car aswell?

I know I'm dull and predictable, I'm going to take an Audi RS6 Avant, because it'll pack in an indecent amount of booty, looks inconspicuous enough to fit in on a High Street, and will blow all the bacon into the weeds, whether its in LA with Crown Victorias or Britain with Vauxhall Vectras/Omegas. Or France with Peugeot 607s. In fact, I think the only place you wouldn't get away in an RS6 would be Germany, because they probably use RS6s and I know for a fact they use Porsche 911s... I've seen ex-white & green ones up for auction!
