PS means Pfaerde Staerke, which is the German translation for Horse Power and always measured according to DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm).

Nope, I think the M6 will probably use the 5,5 liter V10 which will also be used in the coming M5 and it's rumored to develop around 500 BHP.

Aaah, yes :) . It uses the 4,4 V8 which still develops 333 bhp.

This is funny. BMW get a new engine. A V10 with 500 bhp in the new M5 but Audi has already designated a 600 bhp 'Bi-Turbo' V10 for its new RS6 and the new E-Class AMG is rumoured to have 650 bhp.

Looks good, but will not be as outrageous when produced.

I guess I'll have the V10 engine (with hopefully 100hp/litre).

Also wish that it'll weigh less than 1500kg and will have brakes that work: M cars apparently kill/warp their brakes after 1 lap on a racetrack because of their low single or dual calipers systems. Nowadays most performance vehicles need 4 or 6 piston caliper braking systems (good example is the direct competition: AMG)

Can't wait to see one on the flesh!

BMWs are becoming less and less desirable ( aesthetically ) with each new model. Some may have previously decried their conservative lines but I'd take that any day over the latest incarnations.

Being a Mercedes fan, I'm pretty happy that all the new BMW designs are ugly as hell !! But I gotta say that both the 7-series and Z4 look much better in reality than they do in pictures.

By the way, someone was saying that the new E-class AMG is rumoured to have 650 bhp, what kind of crap is that ? What new E-class AMG anyways ?? they just released the current one less than a year ago.

Someone else was saying that BMW's M cars lose their brakes aftre 1 lap or so , I personally never had the previlage of driving one, but i never read anything about that. on the contrary, the current M5 has AMAZING brakes according to most magazine reviews.

Mercedes have nice designs (best example would be front of the SL, but then again because of the retractable hard top, compromises had to be done by designers so the butt is in my view ugly) but BORING. boring because they are evolutionary and derivative but not inventive like the new BMW designs.

The 7 series may not be the prettiest of saloons but put it next to the MB, Jag or Audi and most people will be drawn to it instead of the other cars... it has presence.

The 6 series shows the maturation of Bangle designs and has a much more integrated look.

According to a few magazines I have read, the M5 brakes have the same problems as all M series: good on one lap but warp after intensive use, due to their single piston calipers... AMG brakes are much better...

As much as the new BMW's engine, handling, interior, etc....kicks ass and it all does because it's just so damn sweet. I'm skeptical about the design, especially the back. It looks like they were trying a new risky design and it didn't work out for them. Sorta stupid. But what do I know?:rolleyes:

It seems Porsche had surplus inventory of 996 taillights and made a killing by selling them to BMW. The 911 Turbo inspired "whale tail" rear also looks like a design owing more to Stuttgart than Munich.

The 6-Series is probably the least offensive looking of the Bangle Bimmers so far, but I still wouldn't call it beautiful by a long shot.

The M6 looks good, and yes, the 7 series and the Z4 both do look much better in person. The whole thing with making the M3 4 door though was a bit stupid, I dunno, I guess BMW does have to move foward, but I've always favoured the M3 as the 2 door coupe.

My dad just put himself on the waiting list for two M6's. They are supposed to be out in September 2004. It's a 5.5 litre v10......500 hp. It's gonna be sick. BMW won't release any information on it yet.

I don't understand how you all can hate that car so profoundly, without even seeing an actual model. But, this is a forum, so I guess that just speaks for itself. Understand this, within the review for the regular 6 series with the v8 engine in CAR magazine (issue with PCOTY) they gave this car a run down, and it turned out amazing. They said it runs like a heavy weight csl with more power. Now how can you go wrong with that? Really. don't look at it if you don't like it, and just understand how great this thing is otherwise. Performance. I myself love the new bangle looks (could do something with the rears, but thats ok) and this car is no exception. It is amazingly detailed with it's curves, and i'm glad bimmer has finally got a designer that can making something beautiful and it not look like a box with wheels. While I still liked the older bmw look, it did need some changes, and it was just getting outdated. Now please, just Bangle give a chance?

I hate Mercs like hell! Oh the cars are so boring when driven! BMW rocks and always will! comapre any merc and BMW in a similar class and u will find BMW will have better handling and better driving pleasure! that's all that matters dude! it's the ultimate driving machine......
