Question asked in the movie Fight Club.........If you could fight anyone in the world who would it be? People that is dead count also.

I would like to fight:

-Justin Timberlake
-Aaron and Nick Carter (Yes, bring them both at the same time)
-Venezuelan President - Hugo Chavez
-US President - Truman
-Tommy Hilfiger

That's it for now. How about you?

only problem with fighting Timberlake is you can't kick him in the nuts, cause their already shoved up his high pitched throat

im not the fighting type... but any one of those little F**king disrespecting little stoner f**ks that tried to hurt the girls in my "group" at school, man did they regret doing that.... strange... they have left us along since then... i wonder why....

do you think it was because my friends and i broke some bones? (not that they didnt diserve it, if you knew them and knew what they do you would do the same) they picked me to "bash" first, i didnt go starting the fight, my friends and mine martial arts training just subconsiously kicked in and well, it came so naturally....( but man.... not like i didnt want to hurt them....)

2 Millions on his finger... I could buy a beautiful house and a couple of Ferraris with that money.

Oh and when he donated the 1 Million it was collected and not from his pocket... And he appeared on MTV for like 2 months running his dumb marathon......... And he was wearing NIKE all the time, I wonder how much they paid him?? All that donation he did was just publicity, other celibrities donate money also but don't make such a show about it.

If any of you are a little more philisophical, you might enjoy the movie "Crash."

While it has sub-par acting, sub-par plot, and gay sex(lots of straight sex too), it really is a precursor to the fight club self-destruction mentality. It's a strange movie with a very strange idea, but shares a lot of similarities with Fight Club. I wonder if it influenced Chuck Palahchkfl;sahf;heouk.

The toll in taking the islands south of Japan were VERY high for the allies.
It as known that Japan was preparing to defend it's soil and that to 'win' the war outright would cost many times more than was sacrificed so far.
American navy would start to come within flyable distance for the next gen Kamikazes. The Japaneses soldiers had already shown how willing to fight to the end they were to defend territory. The expectaion was it would be even greater for their home soil
Faced with the huge loss of forces lives they chose to drop the bomb.
What IS frightening, it took the SECOND one before surrender was announced !!

One part that is mildly shameful is that as they repatriated islands they started to find proof of the atrocities POWs were subjected too. I'm sure there would have been 'hawks' who would understandably want to wreak revenge for that.

And saving even more lives by doing so.

Monthes before "little boy" and "fat man", the Japanese government proposed a CONDITIONAL surrender. They proposed everything but handing over emperor hirohito. From what I remember, there still could be some things I'm forgetting here.

Wether or not they would actually go through with it, I'm not certain. But in the unconditional surrender we forced them into, they still got to keep their emperor.

Obviously, red line had the notion that because of the proposed conditional surrender we ignored, the loss of life caused by the nukes were for nothing more than a show of force to the world.

Course, there's the big possibility they still wouldnt comply. Sides, the russians were thinking of trying to invade japan, which that alone would've been a good reason to let the nukes fly.

Wether or not we had to do it, it was a very tragic, horrific massacre, none the less.

FOWLER--"Obviously, red line had the notion that because of the proposed conditional surrender we ignored, the loss of life caused by the nukes were for nothing more than a show of force to the world."

Yea I was implying that along with the fact that no single man has the right to take the life of another based on any circumstances in my view. Not too many single men have deliberatly killed 100s of 1000s of people (most of wich were innocent) in a way that Truman did. Yes Hitler and Mussolini killed many (if not more) than truman but in different reasons. Either way they too have no right to take any lives IMO.
It's just that if I were Truman, the thought of droping 2 bombs and taking many innocent lives would never even enter my mind even if it meant the lives of just as many people or a few more of our own troops.

This can become a very heated topic as it already has begun because their are very arguable facts and opinions for why Truman should or shouldnt have dropped them so I will try not to continue it.

Back to the thread.... I would like to also fight Oprah and Jerry Springer in a tag-team ring match. Me and Arnold Schwarzenneger(dressed in his "Conan the Barbarian" outfit) against Oprah and Jerry :D

Fowler

From what some sources (not truly credible, IMHO) suggest, trumann had done it as a racist decision, but desguised as a moral one.

Many accounts from various sources indicate alot of bigotry on the pacific front from our side. And not just the concentration camps we kept in the mojave desert.

Japanese sub crew POW's were shot on site, and mass amounts of japanese civies were killed / raped in Iwo Jima. Among other things I've heard.

Again, I wouldnt fully trust the sources I heard this from. Just like I wouldnt trust anything comming from any source other than my own eyes and ears. But I'll tell you right now it was indeed possible. With your own peers are being Tortured in plain view of you and everyone on your side, it can get to you.

As quick (if not quicker) as hearing about our troops being treated like dogshit in slave transports hauling them off to forced labor on the main land.
Or hearing about the bataan death march. Or just maybe (if you werent already a racist asshole) the rape of nanjing. All on account of race.

johnnynumfiv
06-28-2004, 09:02 PM
sorry to get off topic of the thread, but fowler, war is hell, bad stuff happens all around, and you should get more sources because it was either dropping the bombs, or a mass invasion into japan, where it was estimated that the allies alone would have lost ONE MILLION lives, and since the japanese would fight to the last person, thier casualty rate would be orrendous. Everyone has thier own opinions, so lets get back to the thread.

Big call old boy! From what I read it was Roosvelts reluctance to accept surrender conditions with both Germany and Japan that prolonged the wars. The second bomb did not have to be dropped (did the first one?). There is a book I read and I cant remember the author but he worked with OSU in WW2 and became director of the CIA. I'll try to find out what is was called or what his name. Something like "The secret war against Hitler."
