Hello all,

I just found this forum.

I love classic cars and vintage racing, and attend a couple dozen events a year, mostly in Southern California.

Here are my pics and impressions of last Sunday's Concours on Rodeo.

Enjoy

Many thanks. Is that Alfa an 8C2300 Touring? :)

I assume the Atlantic isn't an original as none resides in the Netherlands AFAIK.

Brava

That IS an 8C 2300 Touring, Good eye, sir !

It seems the Atlantic is what many call a 'bitsa' - bits of one, or several real cars, mixed with reproduction parts.

I can confirm however, that, luckily, it is neither made from fiberglass, nor constructed on a VW bug chassis !

As long as it's carrying the appropriate VW Bug body, IMO. :p

That Atlantic is built on a Bugatti chassis, but is not original. That DB4 Zagato doesn't look proper either.

That DB4 Zagato doesn't look proper either.

I can assure you that the Green DB4 GT Zagato is entirely proper. It is owned by David Sydorick, who has what is probably the world's finest collection of Zagato bodied cars, and a fantastic cross selection Italian sports cars in general.

One of his two 'home garages' is pictured above. This Green DB4GTZ has won its class in just about every show it has entered, including Pebble Beach, where they don't accept bitsas and repros.

Here are some more photos of it :

Dear Sir,

What do you have against Ghia-designed Karmann-bodied VW's ?

As the former owner of a 1969 Karmann Ghia, I am outraged ! ;-)

Steven

Dear Steven,

And I can be both brutal and frank. :) I prefer this Karmann, although strictly speaking not built on a Bug chassis...

The VW Type 3 Karmann Ghia coupe.

The bees knees is of course...

The exceedingly rare Type 3 convertible.

And my all time favourite Bug...

The VW Beetle Hebmüller DHC.

Hello Brapha,

Frankly, I never cared for the Type III's very much. Don't like the front end.

Were Denzels still using VW underpinnings in 1958 ?

If so, this might be my favorite VW based car.

Best regards,

Steven

I'm not familiar with the Denzel. Is that an American plastic on German steels? It looks like that thing Steve McQueen drove in The Thomas Crown Affair. :)

Regards,

Brava

It's good see you can be frank too even if it's only frankly.
