Lonman's Players Run.....!!
The event was due to start on the 15th Feb, but on the 14th one of the pulleys under the hood decided to chew up it's bearings. No problem, shoot over to MB Beverly Hills and they'll put it right. Advised that there were no spare parts any where in the world for the SL55. Phoned a friend in the UK who has an SL55, he agreed to lend me his pulley, phoned another friend in the UK and he jumped on a plane to LAX with part. From diagnosis of problem to fitting replacement part took 15 hours!!
I'll go in to more details later on, the videos that will be coming soon are just to insane to believe.
Some of my highlights :
Shooting past a sleeping Cop on the I40, he caught up with us 3 miles down the road, gave us a serious lecture about speed, big fine, guessed our speed to be 140mph + and then let us go. 10 minutes later still in Arizona we got clocked at 167mph by Bitch Lesbian Cop from hell. She was not amused. She wanted me in jail period. Captain came out and gave me final warning!!
Got arrested and put in Jail in New Orleans for disturbung the peace and resisting arrest. We found ourselves in a call with 30 crack addicts and assorted druggies. Bail bonds man bailed us out ($900 each). Cops took $500 from my pockets.....last i saw of that. Court date on 12 May, will plead guilty in my absence, My Lawyer will be in attendance.
Got arrested and put in Jail in ??? County, Florida for doing serious speed with 9 others. Some made a break for it. One of them got 123 miles to Talahassee, then got caught and returned. We spent 7 hous in that sess pit, pictures taken, finger printed and charged. $500 bail and we're on the road again.
Police escort into New Orleans. Quite simply the madest 50 miles of my life. We had one car with lights at the front, and one at the back. Everyone wanted to be at the front and so it was complete psycho madness for 50 miles as everyone tried to get as near to the front as possible. The F40 was one of the arrangers of the event, and so he was number 1 behing the cop at the front........the rest of the positions we had to fight between ourselves. I finished at number 2 position behing the F40. As soon as we came off the freeway there were 14 cops on bikes ( lights and siren going) acting as out riders and stopping all the traffic ahead and not allowing anyone to get in front of us. MAD MAD.....!!
A 30 mile bit of closed desert road which we had to travel to get to the Helicopters for the Grand Canyon flights. Imagine that one!!
The ride into San Antonio. Some of you will have seen the pictures of the SL55, 993 and Dado's M3 (From Techedemics and DTM Power) in the grass below the freeway with the Cop standing there looking at us. What has basically happened is this. 15 of us had blown past a cop so fast there was no way that he was going to catch us. So we all split up, and us 3 decided that it would be a good idea to hide down an off ramp on the freeway. So we piled down the slope , so that the cop would fly right by. We all got out of the cars and we heard a hissing noise, only then did we realise that we had driven into the world s biggest thorn field. These babies were 4cm long, and strong enough to go straight through the tyres of our cars. The 993 lost 4 tyres, I lost one and so did Dado's M3. To make things worse the cop saw us anyway, and pretty much just stood there and laughed. We preceeded to but the gas stations whole supply of Fix A Flay Tyre Foam and went on our merry way. I had only a very, very slow puncture to my front driver's side tyre.
Still 120 mile outside San Antonio We went on a bit of a mad one. Dado has the whole thing on tape. He reckoned that for 99% of the journey he was on his Rev limiter in his M3 in Persuit of my SL55. It' s all on tape start to finish, can't wait ti see that one!!
Out of the 6 nights there, I spent more nights in jail than i did in the hotels. All good fun........
