I've the same feeling, I *think* 'oilpan' is the same as sump :)
If nobody replies on your descriptions, I'll give an explanation of mine and see fi it helps :)

A quick googling reveals this:

http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/catchcan/catchcan.html

http://www.nipponpower.com/accessories/catchcan/greddy_catchcan.html

http://autorepair.about.com/library/glossary/bldef-579.htm

http://www.urbanlegends.com/JC-Whitney-10/ChromePlated-Oil-Pan.htm

Whether or not its relevant or not I don't actually know, it looked about right, but I'm too tired to bother reading it all.

Well done VTECMini :)

So oilpan == sump ( I was pretty sure of this one )

oilcatch can == (upmarket) breather. most cars have a steel filter to trap the oil and hold the sludge which should be cleaned regularly ( often isn't :) ).
Those oicatch cans are just VERY expensive alternatives. Guess it's liek rhinestones for the engine bay :)

the oilpan is the 1 that contains all the oil down of the crankshaft. with an oil pump it'll give oil to the whole engine.

the oil Catch Tank catches the oil and moisture in the blow-by gas that causes carbon and sludge build-up in the intake system and the engine. for keeping engines clean without oil build-ups.
