That's the 2007 model? That's a long wait. A 300 hp Golf! Now that's interesting.

VW doesn't compete in the WRC, with a car like the R36 they should though. I wonder why Audi isn't competing

why would the, they cant enter with the R36, the car has to be a 4wd 2.0 turbo intercooled , and they have to produce a certain amount, to be eligible for the WRC...

But boy, i cant wait for the 3.6L 4WD Golf 300BHP... :)

A picture from an internal Volkswagen meeting has leaked showing what appears to be a Golf RS. Rumours say that it could either have a 280bhp version of the TFSi engine or the 3.6-litre narrow angle V6 from the recently unveiled Passat R36.

EDIT The other pictures are from recently spotted test mules of the R36/RS.

From WCF/Autopareri.

That's nothing then. An Audi A3 3.2 Quattro (which is basically the same car underneath) costs 37.150€ and an S3 39.600€. As far as bang for buck is concerned there are certainly better places to look.

Don't worry we've got the Seat Leon Cupra which is basically a front wheel drive Audi S3 for 26.600€ only... ;)

As far as I know, it's really going to be called R36. So it's going to be a useless Golf on top of the GTI/R32... and as Ferrer already mentioned: it will get the same engine as the Passat R36...

If you have a good dealer you can get a Mitsubishi Evo IX or a Subaru WRX STi for 35k to 40k € with all options and enough power each ;) I drove both of them and the R32 Golf, I think the Subaru is way more fun to drive and the Mitsu is also better, if you don't look to close to the interior build quality (which can be rubbish in a VW also, when I look at the 1,9 TDI Golf of my neighbor...)

It's missing a pedal, and while the actual shifts are quick and smooth, there is a delay between hitting the paddle and the actual gear change. That, and it switches out of paddle mode and back into the regular auto mode too quickly.
