Yep, that's formula one for you. I remember hearing an estimate that Ferrari spend 500 million dollars a season to run their team.

 the stickers cost $2400?!! Come to think of it, the stickers on motor sport cars really give "power" to them (the stickers represent the sponsers who give money for R&D and other costs. So, more stickers = more sponsers = more money for better stuff).

Just wondering, what unit is it? USD? Euro? or what...

"Schumacher dominates Formula One racing so thoroughly that the F1 racing circuit agreed to sweeping rule changes to curb the dominance of the six-time world champion."

I am pretty sure it was USD...

EDIT: another article i had (will see if I can find it) valued the 2002 Jaguar car (1 single car) at a USD $ 180 million. so the other thread where the sun newspaper values an F1 car at 3 million is a load of crap. but then so is the sun newspaper... :D

That's all to do with how you amortise design and development costs.
So the MANUFACTURING cost of the car is 3 million but the DEVELOPMENT cost was 180 million.

yes very true. the article was only a small inset a non car mag. so it may also have been (as you say) the cost (amortised) for a whole year. still, a ridiculous amount of money... :o
