now, if you want a lot of horsepower, you might as well have a manual. what's wrong with manuals? once you know how to use it, it pays off tremendously, and it's actually fun to drive! i'de say get the srt-4, quit complaining about manuals, and put a performance chip in it. don't put a spoiler on it, cuz it's FWD.

if you're gonna insist on automatic, get a 1997 volvo 850 turbo. I have one, and when you switch the sport mode on, it REALLY goes! I wish it were manual, though.

I agree with Sweeney921, plus if you learn how to use a manual you'll always be able to drive any car you want (or have to for some reason), besides automatics usually cost more.

if you want an automatic, you wont be getting any very noticeable power out of it, so you have a choice between manuals (and performance), or automatic (and not-so-awesome power).

Sweeney921

it has about 250 hp

when i say "sport mode", volvo made a feature on that car where u could choose between "econ"(gas saving) or "sport"(fast fast fast). it has to do with when the car shifts up. it shifts at a higher RPM in sport mode

How about a used Mustang GT? You can get one for 20 grand and automatic. It has a 215 HP V8. Is that what you're looking for?

Ask your mom or dad to drive you around the dealerships around town or on the Internet like you said, you may find a Mustang you like.

If you're gonna pay cash, the dealer better lower his price. Don't just pay the asking price, you've got cash in hand, pressure them to bring the price down!

i think the 1997 volvo 850 glt turbo is your best bet, because it's priced at about $7,000.

08-10-2004, 07:29 PM
Which one is the best of the Volvo
850
850 GLT
850 T-5
850 T-5R

Sweeney921
08-10-2004, 07:30 PM
the T5-R is the best and fastest, but the rarest. you wont find one. the T-5 should be your choice.

shr0olvl
08-10-2004, 07:31 PM
Do you know the range of horse power the T-5 has and the T-5R

If you want a lot of HP, look into a 67, 68 or 69 Camaro. For 20 grand you can get e very nice one and if your lucky a big block in it. Chevy big blocks start with the 396 and 375 HP. A good bet is also the Chevelle, 67 to 70, they are auto and have great engines too.

One last suggestion, if you're not into Chevy. Look at 1968 to 70 Mustangs, Cudas and Challengers from Mopar (Chrystler). They were all high HP cars, automatics and with 20 grand you'll get a nice ride. Good luck, let us know what you get. And remember, bring the price down.

wow 20 grand for your first car, you are very lucky my friend

You can get a Mitsubishi AWD Talon, for cheap and then you can get it in the 11's on the quarter with the other money for parts, my cousin bought his talon for about 6 grand and has about 15-17 grand in it worth of parts...but his is a sleeper which means it has no rice to it all all, that saves money for body parts and neon and fakes guys out when you race them

His talon runs tens on the quarter at 158mph, and has turning performance that is ferrari worthy

if i were you i would seriously look into it if you want a car that is fast, and i can garantee it would be faster than a volvo :p

what do you guys think about a 3000gt ??
I think i mite buy one of those ?

Sweeney921
08-10-2004, 09:14 PM
yea 3000gt's are very nice

shr0olvl
08-10-2004, 09:20 PM
yea, i dont know a bunch about them, but i hear there good cars, but how long do they last and where can i find out how fast they do in 0-60 and the amount of horses they have

And are they easy fix up to get more horse power and mods for the exterior

shr0olvl
08-10-2004, 09:30 PM
are 3000gts the same as 3000gt vr-4 or are the vr-4 better, because when i seach for a 3000gt it brings up stuff about the vr-4

Spastik_Roach
08-10-2004, 09:50 PM
VR-4s are the performance versions of the 3000GT. Go for one of them if possible, very fun cars, if a bit heavy. They're pretty reliable, and sound pretty cool aswell. Try and get one in black cause that makes them look the best!! Niko_FX might know some specs, since his friend has one..

shr0olvl
08-10-2004, 09:53 PM
sweet, thanks for the details, makes me want it even more ! but i dont think i will be able to get the VR-4 as it seems they are rare

If possible, how much better is a vr-4 than a gt

these are the ones i cud pick out of, http://autotrader.com/findacar/results.jtmpl?model=3000GT&start_year=1984&end_year=2005&min_price=&max_price=&distance=50&certified=n&x=29&y=4&advanced=y&advcd_on=n&make=MIT&address=77381&search_type=used

Check them out and post back which one you think i shud get, and no standards, just automatics !

Also, Is the 3000GT SL better than the 3000GT ?

TheOne

last i though is that the 3000GT VR-4 is the twin turbo version of it.....making it somewhere in the 300-320hp and can hold around with the supra. the normal 3000GT is the non-turbo version. i read it on a mag that it hanged with the supra, the 300zx and some other TT/NA cars. about same times & hp.

i'd get a talon TSi or a 99 mitsubishi eclipse GSX.

(tho with $20G's i'd be able to finish my 240sx, and puttin the rb26dett straight away)

ive really got a problem with inexperienced drivers getting their hands on high performance cars. already 2 of my friends have crashed within weeks of being able to go on the roads by themselves in all things an EB Falcon with its mighty 150kw of power in 1600kg.

i would definately recommend a volvo 850 t5, my dad had one and they are pretty quick cars. get the t5-R if you can coz they are definately the best and were tuned for volvo by Tom Walkinshaw Racing. they make 250 hp standard and sit on pretty hard suspension and 17 inch mags. The ordinary t5 makes 230-240 horsepower and still have the solid suspension but smaller 16 inch mags and they don't have the body kit.
One problem though...if you were to break anything on them, they can take a pretty big chunk out of your wallet. If you want cheap servicing and parts go in the japanese direction.
Good luck!

You're 16. You probably aren't even able to drive properly since you refuse a manual AND you are going to waste 20.000 $ on a high HP car ? You're sick of your life ? Seriously get a max. 5000 $ car and waste the rest of the money on girls and enjoy your life. Get a car that weighs 1200kg and makes 120-130 bhp. That'll do ya. Ever thought about insurance and gas ?

wrong forum btw

I recommend you go get a IS300 that car is automatic and it has the tiptronic shifting if you ever want that manual car feel. A BMW would be nice too.
