hmmm, i heard between 350-450, but you gotta upgrade the turbo for that, as the turbo only holds some ~300+ rwhp.

nissan engines info (http://klohiq.tripod.com/cars/240sx/swap.html#sr) <<here....it tells you almost everything about the nissan engines, specially the sr and rb.

woah.....100th post

yea thanks, i was aware of the turbo upgrade, ect. i just wanted to know what would be the limit on the internals.

"woah.....100th post"

yea its a good feeling! :D :D

the turbo upgrade comes as no surprise, the GarretT3540 fitted to the XR6T is considered a large turbo and that kicks out at 600hp.

If Nissan put a bottom end on the engine like that on the RB series, you'd be able to stretch the stock internals pretty far. I personally wouldnt recommend it though, just to be safe

i've heard rumors says that the SR20DET can increase its power rating from its stock performance up to 50% with ease and no major part change. Its from an article writen to review the S15 when it just came out. I found the article in the archive section of some website... quite sometimes ago already..

hope that helps (tho i don't think it will be any great help)...

does it really mattter? if u want to push it then u SHOULD reinforce the innards or else ur just asking for a killer misfire or a timing belt snapping and ruining ur piston or something

i've heard rumors says that the SR20DET can increase its power rating from its stock performance up to 50% with ease and no major part change. its called a boost controller, you can up the boost and expect some reasonable gains up to a certain point (the point at which compressor output temps get to high on the inefficient at higher boost stock turbo, you start maxing out injectors, etc.), the farthest id push a stock SR20 long block is about 350hp but cams and a little head work you might get more.

yes it does matter, the more money the manufacturer put into bullet proofing the engine the less you do, on MkIV supras over 900hp on the stock shortblock is not just possible anymore its common, thats money you dont have to spend on forged pistons, rods, and crank. makes modifying the car alot easier, you dont even have to drop the motor. most ppl would call it quits on a SR20 after 350hp as they dont have the time, motivation, or money to build a race motor (not to mention know how) the same would be said if the stock motor could only handle 250hp if you see my point

the more boost, the more power. until the engine blows! u could probably get over 500hp............but only for a few seconds, then boooooom. i wouldn't trust the stock internals much above 12psi for very long.

i dont characterize the power a car can make in a mater of seconds at the power the engine can handle, i would trust the SR20 for 350hp repeatedly, and how safe 12psi is depends on the size and specs of the turbo along with the tuning, the SR20 could take 12psi from the stock turbo no problem but throw on say a T78 and that same 12psi would be pushing it as the aftermarket turbo flows more air :)

oh ya.. read about that at 'turbo & high tech performance'. Stock 2jz-gte goes up to 970hp without internal mods (i think) as the pistons and the rods and the crankshaft are all forged, not to mention the strong block. Something makes me wonder is that the engine uses air intake used by a Mustang

im starting to think theres more NZ members than there are aussies.....perhaps its because of the higher amount of performance cars across the tasman

i dont think so. well theres definetly more aussie members compared to the nzers(the ones that actually post frequently anyway). ;) and yes there definetly is alot of import performance car action in nz ;) :) :D

there's a 200 drag car over here, that has about 540hp, and it has a standard bottom end, runs about 9-10 seconds
