Why did Mercedes-Benz incorporate their unique design of the SLR on a car like the SLK? Why did they add the Formula 1 Cart nose design on that car? The SLR is like a bench mark of what the company is capable of doing. Did they run outta ideas or what...Iam getting dissapointed by both BMW and Mercedes. Two of the most wanted brands in the world, yet their quality decreases every year. A certain group of engineers and designers are smoking the wrong crack....

Its called design identity.
A group of features are used to identify a car as belonging too a particular brand.

The F1 style nose section is carried over to the SLK as part of the 'halo' effect, people see the similarities between the SLR and SLK, and think that similarities must be more than skin deep.

Also I suppose it is for people who would like an SLR, but can only afford a car 1/10th the price.

Look at Ferrari with the new 360 replacement. That has certain similarities with the rear of the Enzo.

They should keep those designs only for the original car...not put it on a car that costs 1/10 the price. Thats like buying the Chrysler 300 over the Bently, why, they both look the same, but the Chrysler is cheaper.
