the filling points on the volvo concept car (made by women, u cant even pop the hood)
they're supposedly the same design as ones on race cars so there's no fuel filler cap or release for the hatch

Probably work the same way as the race ones then :) Hopefully not as prone to failure !!!

Many modern cars are almost there anyway.
A flap-valve is opened by pushing the nozzle in.
Just that - in the UK anyway - the law requires a filler 'cap' which can be screwed on/off. So until that gets changed nobody could do it here :)

So what aspect of 'difficulty' is there involved in twisting a cap 90degress and removing it before filling ? My bet is it's a half-arsed idea that it will save them getting their hands dirty or diesel. BUT as usual only half-baked coz you still have to hold the nozzle which could have diesel/dirt on it. THAT's why there are gloves at the forecourts. Or can it only be filled up at Volvo dealerships with a special remote nozzle ??
